Passing 10/3 Wire through a cinder block wall?!?

I'm getting ready to run 220v to my Husky 60 gal compressor and I'm trying to prep for the job. I've got most of the details hammered out, but I still have a few that I have to finalize on.

One detail particularly is how I'm going to get the 10/3 to pass through a cinder block wall. The block wall is a 'cubby' area of my lower level garage. The back side of the wall is open to the house's crawl space.

My initial thought is to mount a junction box on the back side of the wall, then run MC 10/3 from the box, through the wall, and then to garage side mounted outlet box.

Does that sound OK? or is there anything else I need to consider?

Thanks for the help

Sounds OK so long as the box will remain accessible.

Curious as to why you want the box tho? Why not just run your cable straight through?

If anything, I'd think you would prefer a box on the other side as your junction point for the compressor.

I'm not sure really. My plan is to run 10/3 NM from the panel to the garage wall. I figured I would need a junction box to transition from NM to MC. Is that wrong?

There is nothing wrong with what you are planing. It may be easier to put a PVC sleeve through the block wall and use NM all the way. Be sure to protect the NM if it may be subject to damage.

You would need a box to transition yes. But I'm thinking along the same lines as the other guys. There isn't really a need to transition in the 1st place.
