I have a set of Snap on boxes. They are a 3 piece set a top a middle and a bottom they are the Rick Mears edition from the 80's. I believe mine are 1986. They are in good shape but starting to show their age. Just wondering what they are worth or if I could even sell them. :dunno:

Pics would help but the middle box is probably worth as much as the bottom and top together. I could see the entire set bringing close to $1000 if they are in good shape. Seems everyone...me included...is trying to get a middle box for the KR657/637 sets. I assume that's what your Rick Mears boxes are?

the rick mears editons, if in good to very good shape are (probably) the only special edition boxes that are worth more than the std production boxes of similar size.

the added mid box up's the anty a bit.

Snap on tool boxes hold a good value what ever their age I don't think you would have any problems selling it for a good price. I would recommend you speak to a snap on dealer and get his opinion on the value.

My boxes are model number KR537 (top) and KR557 (bottom) cant read the middle box serial number.

I would be interested in trading someone my middle and my bottom for a HF 44" bottom and the HF side with the drawers. Or would trade all 3 of mine for the 72" model anyone intersted? I will post pictures tonight.

I have it I had to take it off to get it to fit into my garage area where my tools are stored. It is just rivited on so no big deal attaching it back. If I didnt have the middle box it would be a problem having the lid on there.

Look nice from the pic. If all drawers work good and the inside is clean. You could probably get ~$650-$1000 depending on location, and how patient you are to sell them. A local guy has a set of the anniversary boxes like that, in excellent condition. His doesn't have the mid box though. He has had them listed for $1000 for the past 8 months. I guess the market has spoken on those. He doesn't seem to understand that though.

I think the issues is the market for those is more limited to the collector / person that thinks they are cool. For ~$1000 you can usually find a newer, wider bottom only box with ball bearings. Which is what seems to be the trend among those who make a living out of their box.
