Last week I did another search on the local CL for bandsaws, and the top one was a vintage Craftsman 103.24260. Pictures looked ok, but didn't show too much detail. It's a 12" model and had a 1/3 hp Craftsman motor installed, for $70. Mounted on the original stand and had a light.

What I didn't see was the Slo-Speed Converter on the other side! I'd been looking around at reduction gearboxes but this negates that entirely. The cover's missing and it's mounted like ****, but it's there and it works. I'm not sure why it's different than most I saw online where you move a pulley in and out, though. This one just has two separate pulleys.

The rest of the saw's ok. Needs tires, blades, rewiring, and maybe some bearings.

Also picked up the little 1/4 hp block grinder recently from a guy at work, in pretty darn good shape!

Picked up a new switch for it on Etsy...two control switches, one bare in original box, the other in an electrical box. I've given up on stuff like this on eBay, idiots generally want $40+ for beat up garbage. These cost the same as a new cheap plastic one.

Whoa! Great find. The band saw looks awesome. I got lenox, starrett and haltbar blades on my old saw. You may want to check for spare parts with hammertool site or bandsawparts.com . Congratulations to your new band saw .

Thanks! I've accumulated a few things already. For blades I bought a Lenox bi-metal for cutting steel and two SuperCuts for wood, a thick re-saw and a thin fine one. Cool Blocks makes some round ones for these old saws, and eBay for urethane tires. Once it's torn down I'll pick up bearings and belts, and try to come up with an enclosure for the Slo-Speed Converter.

What's the hammertool site?

Good to hear that. I am not sure with the hammertool site , I think I saw it on google. Or maybe I typed in a different site. Never mind about it. You must be really excited working on your band saw.
