Grandpa stopped by this weekend and said he was bringing me a few things. Was pleasantly surprised.

Also a random bin of nuts screws bolts.

Ace are high quality Taps and Dies. It was my first set I have since replaced with Irwin but those taps lasted me a long time.

Your grandpa is GJ approved.

I was just thinking about my late grandfather yesterday... I was thinking I particularly wish I would have grabbed his 3/4" socket set, but I really wish I could have gone through all of his tools (hazelnut farmer for 60 or so years).

Got this a few weeks ago, first day I took it out. Sunex 2-Ton aluminum jack. Paid more to get a Sunex version over a HF one, happy I did. Very good quality, heavily built (despite being aluminum), and extremely smooth releasing under load. At a quick glance it looks like a HF aluminum with a different paint job, in actuality there are some differences, primarily in the length of the frame, and height and design of the lift arm. I know Sunex prides themselves with quality (for an import) so I put my faith in that and wasn't disappointed. The 2 ton HF jack is also about 10 pounds lighter which actually turned me off. I didn't want the frame or wheels buckling like some of the HF reviews claim.

The white specs and areas that look like spray paint are just crumbled foam from the packaging.

Thanks guys. Was pretty thrilled with it and will enjoy using them as needed. I'd imagine prob close to 30-40 years old? I'm sure he just had them for homeowner duties. Some you can tell have never been used.

My first hand me down tools (only one GP) So understand it better now.

New table mill, Homier 03989. My search for used Rf-45 continues, but this is better than nothing for time being, especially for the steal that i got it for :). Even came with this cool tiny D30 Kurt.

I picked up an electric impact and some sockets from Sears to make changing out my struts and shocks a little easier.

I left my # with a pawn shop in case he got any snap on, Mac, or matco tools in. I didn't think anything would come of it but got a call the other day and the pawn shop gave my number to a guy selling all his tools mostly snap on, some kd and a matco trt49! Also got a snap on hockey jersey and a snap on coat..... All for $100! And he has a snap on lower box (not a 27" and not bogger than my kr661) older but great shape. I will be picking up the end of this week for $300

Hey Chad if you don't mind would you give some first impressions on those two sets? I've been looking at them for awhile on Amazon and my free month of Amazon Prime is about to run out...

First couple of boxes showed up from Advance Auto. Thanks to GJ member MJB24 for the $40 off of $100 promo codes! Perfect timing as I'm deep into the rebuild of my 62 Thunderbird's 390.

Rebuild kit for the Holley 650 going on it, a set of new spark plugs and a new timing set.

Also a Gearwrench 4pc 3/8" drive wobble extension set. Love these extensions so far, and that they also work as straight extensions if you click the sockets down further. I'll be buying these in 1/4" & 1/2" in the future.

Another shipment is on the way with a full gasket set and new oil pump.

Yup, got them through Advance. I surprisingly like them more than the Snap-On set I used in a job shadow that convinced me to buy a set. COO is Taiwan, by the way.

Cool. I want to replace my mish-mash of extensions and I like damn near everything about those ones, case and all. COO doesn't bother me as much with gearwrench because the quality is there, they don't try to hide the COO, and the price is right.

Thanks for the info!

I had a stack of Staples Bucks that were getting ready to expire. I remember seeing somewhere that Office Depot wanted to move into industrial type stuff. Assuming Staples was doing the same, I searched staples.com and found DeWalt, Baldor !!, Makita, etc. The Metabo was just too expensive for my home brew needs. Anyone can sell anything thanks to the Internet!! They had it listed at $121, then i asked them to price match amazon.com $79. Used 55 reward bucks from old printer cartridges. Out the door was 25 bucks. Free 2 day shipping. That beats the hell out of buying more printer ink and pens any day. Now if I can just figure out how to capitalize on left over Chuck E Cheese tickets....

Haven't moved it into the shop yet, but bought it on Sunday. Naval subcontractor used it to build boomers.

one question? How do you guys put the pics right in your post?

Gotta use an image hosting site unless you have your own site or a server site.

photobucket, imageshack, tinypic, etc. all work.

3rd party hosting site that you upload a photo to and they then give you an image
url that has your photo.

Copy and paste that link to body message and done.

So my coworker picked up this old Kennedy 520 for $10!!!
I offered him 30 for it. He said no. I asked why. He said, "well, if you're making me an offer it means it's worth something"

The thing is missing a drawer pull and I happen to have a few extras. So I traded him this little vise. It has a suction mechanism and will adhere to a flat surface. But the seal is weak and can easily break the vacuum off. Taiwan. I'm going to mount it on the Asssistent

I've heard in the past that between the blue set and the yellow set of nylon pry bars at harbor freight, one is better than the other, and one snaps more easily than the other. Is the yellow set the better one?
