Wind was closing the gate, or part way.. and an old brick as a stop was getting old...
So
Took some scrap metal from the bin
And made a adjustable height self closing gate latch for my driveway front gate.
Acts as a positive stop as well to keep the gate from opening too far and damaging the hinges I built last month.

Rear end looking forlorn.
Trans removed.
The leak we were looking for. Easy fix. The seal will be $25, labor, if a dealer did it about $900.
Unfortunately the owner burned the clutch. You can see the heat marks, and actually feel them too. This is $600 in parts.
It is now stored awaiting parts.

finally been warm enough to paint a salvaged steel cabinet.
hit it with a DA and spray bombed it with some leftover crimson red.
took down the existing side cab that was mounted on the wall, hung it on the kr300e, and hung the "new" cabinet in it's place.
put some seldom used air grinders, sanders, & extra impacts in the side cab, moved all my electric grinders and supplies to the big cabinet.
repurposed an old garden hose hanger to the back of the man door for an air hose
then sat back listened to the radio for a while and had a couple cold ones.

A customer came down with some aluminum charge pipes to be welded up for his turbo '85 Corolla.
At the same time a friend is using my bay to strip back the wiring on either side of his engine bay in his Right Hand drive import to respray the fender liners and rad support to freshen it up for this years car shows.

Since I really shouldn't drive my '04 Jetta Wagon while it awaits an alignment on Monday (after yesterday's Koni project), I spent today dropping the sagging headliner after I figured out how the Germans assembled the crazy wagon. I had the headliner board out shortly after noon, had the old foam and adhesive cleaned off (used Acetone) in time to mow the lawn before dark. We'll see if I can find some 3M Super 77 or 90 on Easter Sunday. Otherwise, I might just carry the backer board to a headliner shop on Monday and let them work their magic while the car is getting an alignment.

Finished this up recently. Had started it last summer.
Took a whole house attic fan that we weren't using, built a box, added filter & wheels. Now, I have some serious 2-speed fan action for this summer in the garage.

Got up early and brewed some strong coffee. Drove an hour to do some haggling early AM for a mostly complete truck bed for my truck project (1972 Chevy Cheyenne camper special) and got a sweet deal on some rust-free panels. Also made some good old-boy contacts.
Then dipped several of my older ratchets in gear lube for a good long soak... reorganized my peg board over the main workbench (new acquisitions to make some room for)... cleaned up the garage a bit, soaked some rusty stuff in vinegar and then degreaser... ran a few parts and tools on the polishing wheel to take off some rash. And finally picked up some trolley track in 16-foot lengths with other hardware, to fab up some slider doors for my FIL's pole barn. Side trip to pick up some stuff for Easter Sunday for the wife.
Now I'm enjoying a few beers and watching some westerns. Doesn't get much better than that!

Bought a Lowes 60 gal 3.7 hp air compressor to finally replace my oilless noisy low CFM compressor. It's broken in as per spec, and I'll be changing the oil as I see it's already dirty following the break in process.
Moving a compressor this size was a challenge for just me. In the back of my compact pickup, it sat on the pallette and was strapped down from all four corners. That made it safe to get home, but how to get it off my truck and to the ground safely?
I ran straps down around each foot and back up to the top with a strap running around the perimeter to keep those straps near the top. I connected two of the lift points to the engine hoist and was able to lift it free of the truck bed without too much issue. It did tilt about 20 degrees once in the air and that was expected since I had to lift from the side, not fully above since the lift couldn't go that high.
The end result was that it was safely secured for the transport, was able to be removed from the truck in a vertical position, and now is in the garage being prepared for installation.
I've used that lift for a bunch of projects now from removing oil tanks from a step van to installing a magnetic disk drive degausser at Microsoft. Now I used it on unloading a compressor. Some day I may actually use it for an engine!

Well it's been two days since I started hanging corrugated metal on one wall. Good Lord, I am slow. I have to extend four outlets from below the bench to above the bench. I had to cut an access hole in because no matter what I did, I couldn't keep the wire from snagging the insulation. I'm going to skip on so all I have is one more to do and a coupl of pieces of tin left to put up. Hopefully it will be done today.
I've also found out that the metal I had before, and the metal I bought the other day, has a slight difference. My other sheets were 8' long and these I bought day before yesterday are 10'. The creases in the 10' pieces are a tad sharper than the ones I had left. Plus, when I cut them, they twist. Make it a little harder to get them to lay flat. It's going to look pretty good though, or at least I think so. And I have enough room under my Gladiator cabinets to tuck some rope lighting up and behind the cabinets to sort of light up the wall. Hopefully I'll have some pics later.

I'm not a wood worker but decided I wanted to try and hang the maxjax spacers next to my pump instead of using that black metal piece and mounting it on the wall.
Took me 3 hours to make this..lol Yes I know that's lame but I could not figure out how to brace it, the original idea I had didn't work and it was too top heavy obviously with these 4 spacers on it., all done by scrap wood but it's actually pretty solid now, hopefully my wood working skills increase.
Don't mind the circles, I had turned them upside down to figure out how far I wanted them spaced out.

Painted and installed:
Will it hold the weight?

Everything is apart and I'm waiting on something so better to do it now than to have to disassemble everything again..

One inbetween the lowest and highest factory holes. I added one exactly in the middle of that, and then 12" below the lowest. That way if I want to do something that requires just the tires off the ground I don't have to worry about getting it all in the air too much.

Really need to make a new support wheel mount... i hacked it up one early Sunday when the first wheel broke apart and I needed to get a replacement one (different size) installed before I left for a few weeks.

Each socket has a finish nail in the middle to keep them from rolling around

I discovered the reason my mower blew its head gasket thanks to a surface plate - bc the head wasnt flat. That means I got to spend the afternoon lapping it back to flat. Luckily we stopped at Lowe's today for supplies for other projects and SWMBO bought a new grill, so altho my arms hurt from lapping I had some cold beer and bratwurst to make everything better....

Finished this up a couple of days ago. I've had the seat on it forever but never liked the cheesy front bracket I made for it many long years ago.
So, I took a piece of 1" angle, flattened the ends and rounded over the outside corner edge. Painted and added some indoor/outdoor carpet to the tray.
Looks much better now.

Dragged a 100 foot extension cord and reciprocating saw out to a stump I pulled over a couple days ago and started hacking off its tentacles to lighten it up so I can drag it into the woods. Not a fun job so far due to the very uneven ground and odd angles I had to throw the sledge hammer.
That must be for the top of the cart since those extensions are standing up, right?

Friday night I ran to the Harley dealership looking for some new mirrors. When I arrive home I found that my new Progressive Industries rear shocks for my Dyna showed up. First thing Saturday morning before working on paying jobs I hurried and put my new shocks, mirrors and shift linkage on the Dyna Wide Glide.
Here are the mirrors.

New chrome shift linkage.
OEM rear shocks. Not impressed by the way, the ride pretty much sucked.
New Progressive Industries 444 series shocks.
Bike ready for a test ride.
WOW!!! What a difference good shocks make. Doesn't even feel like the same bike. Now I just need to save up for the new pipes I am wanting.

I was thinking of making myself some socket holders but after a HF coupon for $5.99 / set of trays I decided to buy instead of make them. That is now causing a flare up of OCD that I didn't realize I had because I have empty socket pegs that desperately need filled. Maybe I'll steal your idea and ditch those HF trays so I will be happy with the sockets I currently have.

I made a couple of signs out of some 1.6mm galvanised steel i have first i cut the template out of some 3mm mdf, then plasma cut them out, i then undercoated them and put down a few patches of red oxide and a light pink undercoat
after that i painted the normal colour
then did a bit of a rub threw effect

A couple of different ones
I have a couple more that i haven't plasma out yet that are of different designs. i have been thinking of trying to sell a couple of these as they would be a cheap sign for people to have hanging in the man cave but not to sure if people would be overly interested in them so i will see how it goes. thanks for looking.

It's for the top. And I did it with a router, after tracing out each line of sockets standing up
Try a few different socket lay-outs before you trace where they are going to go
The finish nails in the middle let the sockets slide off easier than the trays that jam the socket on. Makes working from the socket tray aggravation free

Get done, wipe off the mustard you and see the blue green, with a bit of the red underlay, and then the silver of the "metal".
