Re: Snap On socks, any place cheaper?

Anyone know what's going on with Snap On socks on the SO web site? In the past I placed three orders for various colors of SO socks. Tonight none of the part numbers I have used in the past (ECOSN4556G & ECOSN4556BR) will work.

Please don't tell me they are gone from the web site. Guess I'll call customer service tomorrow.

Snap-on guy around here has been throwing around socks every time you buy something off the truck. A buddy of mine bought his new combo set the other day and got a comfort grip razor for shaving.... yes, i said it....

Snap-on customer service told me today that the socks are "restricted" on the web site. However she was happy to take my order on the phone.

Do you guys wear these in summer? They look thick. I wear the cheap hanes socks and my feet sweat, even in winter really. This has me wondering if my thinner is better idea is wrong?

I recently started wearing SO socks this past fall/winter. They are great, however I too am wondering how they are in the summer? We average high 90s and see 100s... As great as the Snappy socks are, I can not imagine wearing them in the summer.

How many of you guys still wear them in the summer? Do you have an alternative summer sock??

After reading this I started wearing my wells Lamont socks to work, which are very similar. I was just wearing them for outside stuff in the winter months. My feet sweat a lot, It seems to me that my feet stay way more comfortable with thicker socks because there's more sock to absorb the sweat. Wearing the thin hanes socks,I've been on my way to work and realized my feet were already wet from the sweat in my boots that didn't dry from the day before, not a nice feeling.

I'm also interested what others say about this

Re: Snap On socks, any place cheaper?

How much did they charge over the phone?

Good question! I never asked because I didn't do a sock order (with customer service) yet. Since I did my tool order the night before on the SO web site, I was not too interested in doing another socks only order.

I HATE :FIREdevil doing Snap on orders through customer service because they do not appear in my account history on the web site and it's such a pain to have to read part numbers and credit card numbers over the phone.

Sure wish SO would figure out customer friendly/customer service someday.

Although it doesn't get crazy hot in the Seattle area, I still wear them in the summer. I find that my feet sweat in work boots no matter what kind of sock I wear, so I might as well wear comfortable ones. Once thin socks sweat through, my feet get torn up. It's the same reason I wore 5.11 tactical boot socks in Iraq (also awesome boot socks).

Get underarmor sock, like another cushion. My work set up is, Dr schols ( cvs step on the machine tells you which one, worth every penny since I am flat footed), under armor socks and timerbland pro lines. My feet in heaven.

Snapon.com? I'm not finding it, got a link?

Yes, Snapon.com. The socks (along with many other Snap on items) do not appear in the SO web page index or using the search function. You have to know the part number(s) to find them. If you read this thread or do a Google search you should be able to find the sock part numbers.

The best way I know to search Garage Journal stuff on Google is to use the following format:

site:garagejournal.com socks

To get you started, the P/N for Snap On gray large socks is ECOSN4556G.

Good luck!

Cool, thanks. I ordered a pair to compare to my wells Lamont socks, and got some pink socks for the wife. She needs to get converted over to real socks like I did, way better then the thin Hanes stuff. You don't know how bad they are till you try the real stuff.
I didn't find a post with all the numbers, so here ya go. I think you can only get medium in white and pink, is how it seemed:

LRG GREY CREW SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN4556G

LRG BLACK CREW SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN4556BR

LRG WHITE CREW SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN4556WL

MED WHITE CREW SOCKSStock#: ECOSN4556WM

MED PINK CREW SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN4556P

LRG GRAY ANKLE SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN2550G

LRG BLACK ANKLE SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN2550BR

LRG WHITE ANKLE SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN2550WL

MED WHITE ANKLE SOCKS Stock#: ECOSN2550WM

Got my snap on socks and wore a pair Friday to work and Saturday, these things are no joke. Awesome socks. Much more comfortable and quite a bit cooler then my wells Lamont socks, and the same price. Think I'm going to order more and put my wells socks up for outside winter use.

This guy I work with is not a tool guy and has been perplexed by my growing snap on/tool addiction, told him Friday I got some more snap on in the mail. " now what did you buy!?" I lifted my pant leg..." What the heck!?"

There is no sock better than a "Darn Tough" sock...they're 100% USA made socks and better than ANYTHING even on the market...even better than the koolaid tool companies socks

Hate to dredge up these old threads. Anyway... these "Darn Tough" socks might be great and they do have a lifetime warranty but they should massage your feet for $15-25 per pair. I suppose that is list price, anyone finding them for a bit less?

I have to agree on forgetting the cotton, a wool blend sock is amazing. I now wear Wells Lamont wool blend ultimate work socks and and every complaint I had with socks/boots has gone away. Sweaty/hot feet, socks bunching up in boots (only a problem in my current red wings).

I think the $5 is reasonable considering I usually get a year or two out of each pair, this cant be said with a lot of the other brands I buy.

I wear the same Wigwam socks at work every day year round. I bought enough for 2 months at a time when I found how good they were. I hope they still are. I've worn through more boots than I have socks.

please provide your opnion after wearing the socks on duty. I am interested how they feel/wear after a good day wearing your full PPE.

Thanks

I'll be sure to post up my experience. I know that wearing boots and socks for 18+ hours generally gives you a good idea how well the quality is.

I tried out my first pair of socks the other day at the station. They felt great, feet didn't get sweaty with that pair of sidezip boots. I'm going to wear my Rockies next (sidezip w/liner) and they generally make me feet sweat bad.

After that first day, if they continue to hold up and feel good, these are going to be the only black socks I wear out work.

Lemme break this down.

I bought three pairs of socks at around 20/pair 18 months ago strictly to wear in my work boots.

I work 7on/7off schedule.

So for 50% of the year, I've got one of those three pairs on my feet. I keep care of them (washing them inside out/cold water) and I'm still on those three pair of wool socks that I wear year round.

Value wise, I think they're a great value. You can't put a cost/savings on comfort, but I'm NEVER uncomfortable or have had smelly feet since wearing them to work in.

Some days when its 110-115 degree's, and I'm standing on the mud pits where the mud in the pits is 150-160 degree's, it gets hot; but my feet stay comfortable...

In the past year, Ive thrown every pair of cotton socks I had into my shop rags box and ONLY wear wool socks. I've tried a few other brands such as Lorpen, but they don't hold up as well as the Darn Tough socks.

anybody know the sizes these socks come in? THe numbers above do not reflect a size. I am looking for a 13-15 black crew sock.

Thanks

Captain, I wear a size 13-15 shoe (depending upon maker) I only wear the large SO crew socks, and they fit me quite comfortably.

I've bought some from here at around $10-15 per pair.

Like shanker, all my cotton socks get used as shop rags now.

Darn Toughs for me too. I got 5 pair 3 years ago, another 5 pair a year ago, and I honestly can't tell which ones are the older ones. I wear them in boots daily. The first 5 pair have done two tours in Afghanistan, they've been to two mountaineering courses, many hunting trips, multi day hikes, and worn daily (even on weekends). All that and NONE have come even close to wearing out. On top of that, I have never had a blister in them even on the longest mountain hikes with heavy packs.

Merino wool is amazing, and Darn Toughs are the best sock made.
