$15 at my local Lowes since late December.

That's why I bought a set at $15, and I feel exactly the same way.
The smaller one is pretty good, but like any self adjusting pliers, it takes a lot of squeeze motion to get it to clamp.
The large one of mine doesn't open all the way unless you play with it. Not happy about that at all.

Possibly because my store had about a full pallet of them after the holidays.
Looks like the set dropped in price online to $14 as well.

Looks the same as the Craftsman Robo-Grip pliers.

I never liked the robo grips, the commercial really made them seem cool though! Are these basically the same as the robo grips?

Similar, but not the same. These use a sliding jaw, so the jaws stay parallel over the full range of motion.
