HF tools are great... for the junkyard. That way, if you loan one out and the dood never comes back... not that big of a loss.

I'm just back from a vacation in Hawaii. It cost me about 3 Snap On ratchets worth of money every day for a week. I hope what I did was stimulating the economy

Each serves its own purpose. HF caters to the less well off while Snap-On caters to the well off. I don't see why I would need to pay $40 for a SO thumb ratchet if I can get one with similar quality for $5 at HF. HF may use lower grade steel, but who thumb is strong enough to break even low grade steel? Why pay $100 for a large SO impact socket (52mm) while you can get one for $10 at HF that you will only use once. I understand if you need to use it constantly.

Do not worry, the money I spent helped guarantee the paychecks for hotel workers, rental car workers, restaurant workers, etc. They might have their car fixed in your store some day and raise your paycheck.

That would be nice, except I'm in the construction industry. Actually, I'm now one of two chief building code administrators for the City and County of Honolulu, so unless building permits pick up, I'm out of luck.

HF tools are just fine to accomplish the same purpose as SnapOn tools. My Collection is probably 85% Harbor freight,I made a ton of money using HF tools.

I have spent alot of money at Harbor Freight . I have alot of tools that dont get used daily. A 1" SDS rotary hammer drill for starters . I use it maybe once every other month I could have paid $300.00 or more for a bosch but $70.00 for a tool I dont use every day but do need pretty bad from time to time just makes sense . I have had it for years and it has worked fine every time I have needed it . I cant say the same for a CRAPSMAN sawzall I picked up new several years ago and didnt even get one piece of 1" black iron cut before it crapped out but then again we are not comparing HF and Crapsman here .

I think all cheap tools ****, professional tools are the way to go; that being said, do you have enough money to afford them? Thats why we all live vicariously through this site and exlaim "oh, man! Good deal!" when people are able to find things used and get a cheap price for them; we all wish we could afford every tool we desire but most of us can't!

Without Harbor Freight, a lot of guys on this board wouldn't have a whole lot of tools. Get the HF stuff when you start out; as it breaks and you have to replace it, buy the good stuff!

tbh if the tool does the job and will do it more than once without failing or causing damage, I say its a good tool
Keep in mind Snap-on tools are partly expensive; because desperate SO dealers sell expensive tools to deadbeats that take the tools and run. I mostly buy Cornwell now because he is the best dealer, products are very good. Snap-on may be king of the hill, but they are not perfect. For all those who hate cheap tools you must lack experience as a true mechanic, Go ahead take one of your beloved Snap-on sockets and use it on a shop press or hammer a bushing or something in with one. What, you don't want to risk hammering your beautiful Snap-on socket, bet you wish you had a HF set to pound on to keep your SO stuff for exactly what they are made for. If I get stuck working on say, a rusty Ford Tempo, I don't use my SO tools who wants to get that much grease on such nice tools, I'll save my premium stuff for nice clean cars that need precision, the Ford Tempo deserves no better that HF tools. A.A.

Well now we've been reduced to "tool prejudice" when working on a particular model of car. Only top of the line tools must be used on clean quality cars, while "not so clean" clean cars will have to be serviced with cheap imports.
I think HF may have a discrimination suit. I am also sure that the ACLU is willing to take the case.
