Curious to know if anyone knows of a wide but not deep (maybe 12" deep), hanging tool closet. Most garage enclosures/cabinets I find are 18 to 24" deep. I would like a place to hang brooms, shovels, rakes, etc that is enclosed for increases tidyness ;)

Are you looking for wood or steel?

I've seen a couple of ideas here where guys have built shallow cabinets like you're describing out of wood and then used sliding or hinged hollow core doors to enclose the front and give wide access to tools.

Jack Olsen's MAY be hanging on his wall.

If you make one yourself, leave the bottom open so that debris, dried mud, etc can fall off and when you sweep or blow (I do) the shop out you'll get rid of that stuff rather than gather piles of dirt IN the cabinet.

Good idea, why didn't I think of that?

Mine is pretty simple. The only trick to it is that I couldn't have the doors open past the adjacent table, so I made a single door with a double hinge to it.

I keep a ladder in it, as well as some brooms.

The open bottom is a good idea. Mine sits on the floor, but is attached tot he walls.
