Re-Pour Concrete Floor

We had a fire 4 yrs ago. It started in the garage. The building burnt to the ground and we lost all our tools, riding lawnmower, camping stuff and racing bicycles. 3 cords of wood on the outside as well.
The good thing was the house was basically saved. Unfortunitely we didn't have insurance.
Just now getting around to re-building the garage.
The floor is in fairly good condition, but I would like to put some insulation down, and then re-pour.
Wondering how think a layer I need to put down and if I need to use an any rebar to tie the 2 floors together?
Any suggestions?

Insulation? if you plan to repour on top of the old concrete i would think you would want to tie them together. usually this means cleaning and etching the old concrete and using a binder in your cement mix. not sure how you would insulate that.
Basically to just refinish a floor you have a few options.
1. dig up the old and repour.
2. do a thin resurface on top with the special mix just for that purpose
3. repour a whole new 4 inch slab on top of the old one.
I wouldnt try to insulate. too many potential problems. I would use lots of rebar in option 3 though i doubt i would bother to try to tie the two together. The foundation wall should hold it in place pretty good.
For option two you can do it pretty thin but you need to floor very clean. You may need to hit it with a scarifier if its impossibly dirty.
option 2 has potential to be cheaper despite the product being pretty expensive.
