I've become addicted. About a month ago I went to an estate sale on a whim and bought way too much stuff for way too little money. I think everything I bought was a treasure, but the star of the show was a picture perfect Wil-burt** Versa-Vise. Since then I've bought 2 more, A Dunlap and now today a Wilton that's giving me a ton of confustion. The vise is in good shape, we agreed on a price and took it off the bench. On the bottom under the swivel base it is stamped Taiwan on the bottom...Now I'm a little disappointed, but can't find any information out about it either. The only cool thing is that I can buy replacement parts from online. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/vise-jaws-set-p-542182.html If has any info about it please let me know.

I would guess that it is a vise in a light duty line from Wilton.....maybe 4 1/2" jaws. A lot of makers have their lighter duty vises made overseas since Asia seems to be able to cast metal pretty inexpensively. Other than that, I have no clue....I am not fluent in Wilton speak.

Here are some pics if anyone can help me out. Their is a badge that says Wilton USA and John Deere on the vise. When flipped over there is TAIWAN stamped on the swivel casting. My dad said he picked it up at a garage sale 15 years ago for $5. Apparently the guy he bought it for worked for John Deere and said it was some type of a promotional item back in the day. Trying to determine if it is USA made and just the swivel Taiwan.

That badge is exclusively used only on the Wilton machinist vise, but with Wilton, I've been proved wrong more then once.

As I recall the 845 was always an import vise and sold as one. That was when Wilton did more business in Taiwan, before China became the place to get stuff cheap.

I'm sure they were all sold as an import vise for the automotive tool dealer market, the label was probably added later. The 600 series utility vises were USA for a lot of years.
