Snapon Locking Flex Head Ratchet Question

Are the little black button selectors on the locking flex head ratchets plastic or metal? I'm looking at a TX72. I'm not a pro so I emailed Snapon last week asking about a local driver so I could look at one but didn't get a response.

I figured it would be faster to consult the folks on this board. Does the locking button really hold the head rock-solid steady or is there still some play in it?

It doesn't hold the head percectly tight but none of them really do. There's a little at when locked but it doesn't bother me.

What about the selector button? Plastic or metal? Does it feel sturdy and like it will last 50 years?

I just had one of these repaired. I had an older model with a plastic selector switch and my new switch is now metal.

You may be able to see up to date pictures of the new ones on ebay.

All the new ones are metal, only the plastic switch itself changed.

EDIT: Here is a picture of the two versions together.

You could also get an old version and upgrade it with a replacement lock kit.

The new ones I'm seeing on the truck have a metal lock selector but mine's still plastic, seems to work for me. I guess if it shits the bed it'll get a metal replacement.
