In my search for a new (to me) tool box, I came across a guy that is leaving the automotive repair business and has offered to sell me his boxes (MAC Tools) and everything in them. Blue Point, Snap On, Air Tools, etc.

Pictures are provided at the following link. His first asking price was $2,500. Any thoughts on what a good deal would be for all this?

It doesn't look like a huge assortment of tools, and a lot of the ones I can see look like imported stuff.

There are better deals than that out there. I would pass on that for sure. Looking at the pictures provided I would pay no more than $700.00.

Looks like a good deal for a starter box especially if you don't already have a bunch of tools; Snap On wrenches, multiple ratchets, etc ..

The pliers and screwdrivers could be better, I would pass on that.

Unless there are more tools not pictured that seems a bit overpriced. No pics of chrome sockets or impact sockets and very few wrenches other than the misc drawer.

However, there are quite a few snap on goodies in there so you might want to inquire further. This is the same way I got my box and a ton of snap on tools.

That's not a real MAC toolbox!!!

Look at the side handle on the side box - Waterloo!

You're always better off buying the tools and box separately.

You're right, It was made by beach in Canada and sold by MAC. It's a economizer model. It appears to be a model MB2150 top chest, with a MB2250 bottom and two side boxes MB2270. You really need to calm down and take your medicine as directed on the label.

Never ceases to amaze me..the value of this Board:bowdown::thumbup:

I was kinda wondering, when the guy told me that the box didn't have ball bearing slides. Not that I know whether or not MAC makes such a box, but it is great to see the tremendous amount of knowledge available on Garage Journal.

I'll probably go take a look at the box contents, as there are a number of air tools there that might be had at a good price. Will try to get a deal for the scan tool shown in one of those drawers.

I'm hoping to close the deal on the used Snap On Master Series box tomorrow (from yesterday's thread).

The good stuff I see are: the Mac tools boxes (oops, fake ones? or at least low quality versions), scan tool, Snapon wrenches/taps/die/prybar set, IR air tools; the rest looks like low quality, low value tools.... IMHO...

That's probably the best he has to show, so I wouldn't even bother. There was a REAL single bay top and bottom 40" wide S/O for sale here with a bunch of S/O tools in great shape in it. That guy wanted $3500, I actually had to think about whether it was enough of a steal for me to piece it out on ebay. Personally, the guy looks like he beat that box (no liners, everything just thrown in) and for $2500 you can do far better.

Wow, what a upgrade! You really should be happy with that Snap-On box! Way better and more "beautiful" (are we allowed to call tool boxes beautiful? LOL!) then those Waterloo/Mac boxes any day and so much more depth/width and room! Good Job and congrats!

To the OP....

I was going to tell you to offer the guy $500-1000 if you really wanted the stuff. Then I read this whole thread and realized that I am not the only one who feels that way...
