Last night I replaced the front axle u-joints in a 1996 Dodge 2500 for a customer. I don't know when the last time I saw a u-joint in that bad of shape. The guy called and said it was making a "weird" noise. Boy I guess!!

What did I do today??
I proved that helping your wife can be dangerous to your health!!
Went to the garage to get her the battery pack so she could charge her cell phone (we were having a 4 day power outage) anyway somehow slipped on the floor (no lights) and down I went! Damage report: Tore the tendon off my right kneecap, dislocated the kneecap (it went to the back of my leg) and I had to crawl/hop 200' back to the house and call a buddy to get me to emergency, where I waited 6 hours before someone would even look at it! Now I need reconstructive surgery on the knee and they say I will be out of action for at least eight weeks!
Maybe I should take up knitting. LOL!

Massive doctor shortages where I am and even the ones we have are non English speakers, the ER is full of stinking natives, the smell of them makes you want to heave and if you aren't near death it is 6+ hours wait. Ive been crunching anti inflammatories, laying on a heat pack and doing a few stretches when I can and I don't feel too bad today. After about 10 beers yesterday I actually got a bit done to my bike so maybe beer is the answer.

Wow, that *****. Where do you live?

Heat pack is passe now. Doc & Chiropractor both told me to only use ice packs when I tweaked my rotator cuff. Said I wasn't doing myself any good with heat.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Completed the refinishing of an old craftsman vise (post to follow in vise thread) I picked up for $10 last weekend at an estate sale. Pulled every piece apart, stripped them down, repainted paint, re-lubed friction surfaces, reassembled, then added the black highlighting to the raised lettering. It will serve as a light duty vise on my second workbench. It was probably not worth much more than I gave for it, and has some wear, but it said "Made in America" which was enough for me to want to save it. Plus, while I can appreciate the Snap-on and S-K type brands, the Craftsman name is what I grew up working with, and for me, brings back memories of working along side my dad and Grand-father, something I am appreciating more and more as I my children grow. Hopefully they will someday enjoy the type tool art that we all know and love.

OUCH!!!Talk about piling on. When was the power out for 4 days? Never heard. Can't believe you had to wait 6 hours in Emerge. That' wouldn't happen in S'toon, but I hear it's happening in Vancouver too.

There's nothing as soothing as heat- just ask all the people with arthritis and fibromyalgia out there! Of course from a purely therapeutic POV, ice relieves/removes inflammation and heat doesn't.

Almost any doctor today recommends ice vs. heat.

I worked in the garage this morning finishing up a couple of parts for a person, then the wife came out and wanted me to set up the MoJack so she could clean out the mower deck. She mowed the yard and I mowed about 7 acres. We missed the rain, but while mowing I watched it go completely around us.

I worked on the last two of our motorcycles yesterday and today getting all the fluids refreshed and everything checked and ready for the season. Still had enough time to hose the winter mess off the RaceDeck at the end of today.

Tomorrow will be an extended test ride of my K1200GT.

Power outages happen fairly often in our neck of the woods, I am looking at a auto backup genny, but they tend to be on the pricey side.

Four to six hour wait is fairly normal at the local hospital emerge. Millions spent on building a new hospital, but on one ER doctor on staff.:dunno:

I moved my kegerator next to my chimney, had to remove some of the platform that was built there. Fits great

Below is where it used to be (next to the freezer), and I got a kobalt k-rail system to hang some of my heavier stuff on.

How much beer do you drink? Between the Kegerator and the bottles on the bar - as well as the bike and quad - looks like a good time being had by all!!

Hah my wife came back from a wife tour a couple weeks ago so she's to blame for the shelf full of wine bottles. Don't drink too much beer, kegerator was a fun excuse for another toy. My beer comsumption is usually proportional to the amount of garage time/projects I have going on :)

Got the grass cut before the rain comes. Put the little mower up on the lift and became the first one on the block with a bumper sticker on his mower.

Bought the first real breaker bar I've ever owned, PB Blasted the drain and fill plugs on the rear diff on my 2WD Nissan P'up (they came loose very easily after that) and drained and filled it with Royal Purple.

Just feels good knowing it's full of clean, fresh oil. There was quite a bit of gunk sticking to the magnet on the drain plug. I didn't realize it had a magnet incorporated into it. That's a pretty good idea.

Test sprayed a couple of beauty rings with chrome paint. One Duplicolor the other Rustolium. The finish is about the same but the Rustolium seamed to flow out a little better. Think I will spend the rest of the night tinkering with my HF blast cabinet.

Replaced the fan clutch and serpentine belt tensioner. Then my genius and dexterous wife figured and reconnected out all the connections on a part of the wiring harness on the steering column since the connector had broken and we can't find a replacement connector.

Actually it was yesterday evening helped my BIL with his Ford 930 Finish mower that had a broken gearbox mount and double 13inch pulleys on it that had rusted holes in the top one. Ended up having to take it by the shop at work and useing the torch and large gear puller on it to get it off. Finished up a little after midnight so I guess techinicly it was today.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Got some more cleaning done. I am making progress, but organizing automotive stuff, home maintenance, work gear, and wood working stuff effectively is challenging... especially while pack ratting more stuff in. I have put a moratorium on buying any "new" stuff until I get every thing done and the mustang running with the new Detuned Edelbrock intake manifold. Hopefully progress will continue tomorrow.

Bought a air pot for the shop so now I have hot coffee in the shop. So I had to put this in to get rid of the coffee since I live in a subdivision and don't want to walk back and forth to the house every 20 minutes.

I am debating doing this... growing up we just went into the part of the shop where gramps stored his boat that was still dirt. now, I try to have a corner, where the slab is low and it can run out the expansion joint under sill plate. The smells still get to be too much if the kids are working with me. I am thinking of doing something similar, but having it exit out a fake hose bib that will always be open, letting everything drain directly into the sewer drain 3 feet from the wall. Where did you get the urinal from?

A funnel hooked to some ABS pipe through the wall works fine.

Cleaned up a 7' x 15" stainless shelf and set it in a good place for temporary use. Maybe I'll mount it to the wall sometime.

It came from a port-a-let. The company I work for services them at one of our locations. This one was going in the garbage after it was destroyed at one of our customers. Looked like it was run over.:dunno: It is amazing what people will do.:eyecrazy:
