$1.12 at my local store and 10 in stock.

I've never used this stuff, is it worth it and does it work well?

Considering it's usually around $8 /bottle, yeah, it's a very good deal.

What's more, the stuff actually *works*. It's great to derust tools you get at garage sales, nuts and bolts, or anything really. Wish I knew what the secret was so we could make our 5 gallon buckets of the stuff to dip into.

I picked up 10 tonight from the store in Carrollton, Texas. The price was 1.12 each but it took a lot of effort to locate them. The computer showed 22 in stock (only store within 50 miles that had ANY) but they had no idea where they would be. After 2 hours of searching with 3 guys while the store was closing I gave up, left them my phone number and headed home 35 minutes after closing.

Wouldn't you know it they found it right after I left... They gave me a call and let me know... But all the registers were already closed... So it looked like i would have to head all the way back down to this store tomorrow (40 miles), then the head of the paint dept that had been helping me find the Evaporust called me back again and got the store GM to reopen a register for him so I headed back again (I was only a few miles away) and they let me back into the store and sold me the 10 quarts, about an hour after they had originally closed...

Now if that isn't good old fashioned customer service I don't know what is! Even though this store is no where near where I live they are going to get the lions share of my business!

You can't beat these guys anywhere! All this effort for a $11.20 sale!

They still have 12 more quarts if anyone needs them...

I may go pick some of those up. Did they say where they were? I got shafted out of the ones I bought online at the Mesquite store. They showed 6 in stock so I ordered 4. Got the pickup email and everything. I get there and they cant find any. Said they are all gone and they aren't getting any more. Could only refund my money ($2.50 or so).

I must have missed it, what program/app are you all using to check inventory?

I went to lowes.com but that does not list inventory. Any left for 77030 zipcode if someone with the know how would check for me. Thanks.

Just a tip, Lowes has a 20 minute guarantee where if you order something and it is not ready within 20 minutes, they will give you a $25 gift card. It sounds like not only did you order it, but they also said it was ready for pickup, and certainly wasn't ready. If this happens again, you should ask for the gift card.

I did have to do a quick once over with a wire wheel to get some black residue off. That may have just been my fault for leaving them in too long though.

Wash off the dirt and grease first, and I usually use a scrub brush in the parts washer to remove the surface rust that will come right off. Evaporust bonds with the rust, so each bottle is good for only so much rust, loose and easily removed otherwise or not.

Thanks to the OP for this- I just picked up the last few bottles at my local store. It showed $3.89 online and in stock (still a deal) so I placed the order last night and picked them up today. I asked if they'd price match them for me since other stores in the area showed them in stock and priced lower at $1.11- they did, and I was quite surprised/happy....

FWIW, the Aurora, CO store still shows 10 in stock @ $1.04....

Its a distance but I just bought two at store Lemmon Ave by Love Field for $1.12 ea. Has anyone seen a case where online showed zero stock but later found the store did have stock? Thinking on hitting the Lowes close to me though its showing zero stock or at least calling their paint dept.

Not zero stock, but when I bought mine, they were only supposed to have 7 and I bought all 10.

Found it in the store, but it price checked at $8.99, same as listed online for local stores.

I'd like to try some, but much more so at $1 than $9/qt.

$5.84 a quart out west, 0 in stock among 6 stores within a 50 mile radius.

I just bought a 5 gallon pail at O'Reilly's for $89.00. Northern Tool has it for $79.00, but the shipping is $30.00 for 48 lbs, and then there was the wait time.

I called O'Reilly's in the morning, and they had it trucked in from their distribution center that afternoon, and I picked it up in the evening.

Still, I'd rather pay a buck or two a quart like you guys seem to be averaging, even though $17.80 a gallon at O'Reilly's is much better than $30.00 a gallon at Harbor Freight.

Lessons learned:

1. HF is NOT the cheapest on non HF branded, non imported items.

2. O'Reilly's has area distribution centers that stock items that their stores do not, and can get those items to the store on the same day... even a Saturday, which is when I called about the 5 gallon pail of Evaporust that they had ready to pick up that very evening.

3. Lowe's discontinuance of Evaporust appears to have run it's course.

One big unanswered question remains... WHY did Lowe's discontinue Evaporust?

One big unanswered question remains... WHY did Lowe's discontinue Evaporust?

Probably because they did not sell enough of it. First rule of big box retail is that every item on the shelf has to earn it's keep.

Evaporust is a niche item and like most niche items, they can languish on a shelf sometimes.
