Looks like you had some good help with the lift. I see he has his steel toed flip flops on. :)

I like the cabinets in your old garage which brings up the question. What are you going to cover the walls with on your new garage?

Of course , "safety first". I'll catch some heat for that pic .. I agree, it does look careless. We actuallt spent some time discussing just that and he was making sure he extended his arms and kept his feet away every second that lift was in the air.

I plan to design very similar cabinets along one wall and then the other I'll have base cabinets and over-head cabinets.

I want all "wall hanging" cabinets throughout .. nothing touching the floor .. nice and clean look and very easy to wash or sweep the floors.

Doing some irrigation this weekend and hopefully the brick/stone starts this coming week.

Ready for drywall and brick/stone this week!

This weekend I installed RapidAir lines, speaker wires and CAT5 cable.

Today they installed insulation. Here are some pics...

R-13 insulation for walls (below):

Note the blue air lines, these are the RapidAir 1/2" DIA lines. I planned for 5 outlets ( one ceiling mount (for pull-down hose reel) and four wall mounted.

No they are independent of the lifts. I did however lay them out symmetrical around the lift...not with great thought, but I just figured it may be useful.

I meant are the lifts screwed into the concrete pits? I can't imagine they just sit there and that I'd trust it not to move with a car on them.

I wasn't talking about the chains outside the pits.

Four anchor bolts are used to tie each lift down. FYI - Each scissor lift weighs 800 lbs. each.

I love the bricks , here in the Netherlands they are very commonly used.
You don't see them being used very much in the states, or am I wrong about that?

Thank you Sunbimmer. Fairly common here in Texas but it mainly depends on the style and cost of the house desired. Majority of homes built use "standard" grey mortar. I like the look of the white mortar plus it had to match my house due to HOA requirements.

For example, using 100% brick/stone for this garage will cost nearly $10k while siding would be only a fraction of the cost. It can be a "budget-buster" for sure.

I am bricking mine as well. I had to match my house though to.

I used to lay brick and really prefer them over other options.

Drywall and texture complete! Need to paint this thing!

I made the brick/stone design match the main house ; includes soldiers, rollock (sp?). I like how this thing is coming together. I a glad I went with mostly stone of the front view.

This is the point in construction that you can't wait until it is done and it seems like it is taking forever.

Good progress with beautiful stone and brick work.

Have you chosen an interior paint color?

MacTexas - Thanks, couldn't agree more... I can't even get into the garage with all the debris scattered around the garage door area. Tuesday all brick/stock should be completed!

Interior color.. thinking of gray tile border as base trim and off-white (light sand/tan color) on walls.

Did you use Acrylic Latex or a water-based enamel wall paint? I don't want any oil-based paint on walls. Got a quote for $2/ sq ft for interior paint work. ~ $2k.

I used Kelly Moore Latex semi-gloss enamel.

Great looking. I'll bet you are anxious to move in.

Looks like you have a window to put the air conditioner in for those hot days.

Finished painting today and I thought of you when painter told me he will return to clean the floor later ... I can understand ... I just want it over now

You are more patient than I am. It happens on a Friday and you have to sit all weekend with a finished garage and you can't move in. I couldn't wait.

I have always been worried when looking at ideas for adding a detached second garage at my home that a seperate garage with walls higher than the house walls would look very wrong. Looking at yours I think I'm going to have another think about and maybe change my design to have 12ft walls (2ft heigher than the house.) I'm still not sure if the taller door though in relation to the house ones but looking at yours I will probably have to do that too or it will look wrong with a 7ft high door.
So I will be starring at your photos alot In the next few days pinching ideas.

Looks nice, really liking your new garage and it has give me some great ideas to ponder over.. Thank you for for taking the time to post and share your build.

Thank you GBsnoopy. I get your concern .. the garage is a bit over-scaled compared to the house, but I placed functionality over aesthetics to some degree. I wish I would have used 10' plate line for my home on this side when I built it. I'll take some wider angle shots tomorrow to share ..

More progress ...

Exterior now complete.
_DSC0127-L.jpg

_DSC0128-L.jpg

Interior painted, lights up, working the details now.
_DSC0149-L.jpg

Full-rise in its fully extended position.
_DSC0150-L.jpg

Photo showing recess for lifts. Still need to install anchor bolts and clean up and paint.
_DSC0154-L.jpg

Flush-mount when in down position. Now you can fully use your garage space.
_DSC0156-L.jpg

Twelve (12) T5 light fixtures with recess lighting around perimeter. Two banks of lights so you don't always need full light. Very happy I went can lights around perimeter.
_DSC0157-L.jpg

RapidAir air line kit installed behind walls. Total of 5 air outlets. Should come in handy.
_DSC0158-L.jpg

_DSC0159-L.jpg

_DSC0160-L.jpg

_DSC0161-L.jpg

Installing ThunderMounts for garage door rails. Not complete yet. It will look much cleaner.
_DSC0162-L.jpg

LiftMaster opener is very cool! Quiet. This is a 18' x 10' insulated door.
_DSC0135-L.jpg

_DSC0136-L.jpg

Back to the scissor lifts. Using an engine hoist and straps this is a fairly easy way to install/remove the lifts.
_DSC0122-L.jpg

_DSC0123-L.jpg

The lift controller. Looking back over older threads, EE has changed their design a bit.

What are the little colored flags around the perimeter of the building?

Looks like your floor still has the drywall white on it. You are really more patient than I am.

Once again the brick and stone work look really good. Can't wait to see the interior come together. I would update my interior build out but I can't seem to get the piles organized well enough to take a picture. In other words it's a mess and would look horrible in a picture.

Really nice garage build and I love the masonry work. Can't wait for some completed interior shots. There looks like there's a ton of work for future work benches, wall cabinets and storage units.

Well done and congratulations.

Those mark sprinkler head locations, I had to re-work the irrigation system.

I even bought me a power washer and that **** didn't come clean. When I got a little over aggressive to remove some of it, the aggregate started showing show I backed off. I am considering a polisher/buffer machine and some cleaner solution next. I need to consult a concrete person I guess.

Thanks again! Understood, I will be in the same mode you are on very soon.

I feel your pain with the drywall remains. The mud is easy to scrape but the white residue is difficult. Anxious to read about how you clean the surface.

What a BEAUTIFUL garage, love the finishes, the size, the lift, hidden air lines..etc the stone front is to die for, and I really like it mixed with the brick matching the house. I'm jealous.
