UGH!

So I had a buddy's air compressor pump blow up so I ordered him this replacement:
http://www.mastertoolrepair.com/b5900-pump-b5900-pump-parts-p-1111.html

We got it mounted up tonight and find it's leaking air from the bottom of the aftercooler. We used a 1.25" NPT reducer to a copper line to feed the tank and apparently it ate up the threads.

Anyone have any idea on what thread this would be or what kind of bushing/fitting/reducer typically goes on these things? At this point I might have to eliminate that aftercooler and mill out a plate over the outlet side of the compressor until we get a new cooler and proper threaded fitting!!! ERGH!!! WTF!!!

I have a B6000 pump, which is 1 size up from yours. The aftercooler outlet on mine has an inverted flare fitting with 5/8" copper .This is not the same as an 11/4" IPS pipe thread.Hopefully you haven't ruined it, but it can be repaired with a helicoil or drill it out and use a pipe tap next size up if you are lucky.

That would be awesome if I had gotten that. It seems something is missing... why they would make something with an output that big is beyond me.

Just for the heck of it, pull the aftercooler and see if the head is tapped out to 3/4"

Ha, we wished. We did that too and it isn't. I called the place I bought it from, they had nothing, but sent me to Chicago Pneumatics. I didn't find anything useful out.

The threads are finer than pipe thread.

We just used some of the JB Weld and it's working fine for now, don't laugh. It's not mine. Oh well...

Sounds like a chinese special that can be found at a hobo freight. Good luck with that one.
