Swedish garage and workshop

After following this page a few years I thought it was time to post a thread about my garage.
I am a 30 years old guy from Sweden, I live about 100km outside the capital, Stockholm,
please excuse my bad english but I will try to do my best to make myself understood.

my garage is about 80m2 (8m * 5m * 2) it is on two levels, the upper floor is at ground level + basement, then I also have a room in the basement of the house that is engine workshop, warm and clean.

first thing I had to do was to build on the roof of the garage, it leaked water.
I also raised the ceiling so it became more height inside, about 4m to the highest point.

I have also renovated the basement of the garage into a small workshop.

then I did the only right thing and filled the garage and workshop with tools and machines :) almost everything needed to build my cars, etc.

pictures say more than a thousand words

Joakim

thanks,,
I think the lathe is german, but it has a cover with "AMERICA" written on it.
Its still accurate , I would not machine anything for the engine but for everything else its fine :)

It´s been a long time since my last update so here´s some new stuff.

The pictures show some new tool storage i´ve aquired. I´ve made a few bargains at a couple of swap meets, some new tools for my lathe and my milling machine. Then there´s a couple of pics at my soon to be car lift(work in progress), it´s a 2000 kg lifting table.

Enjoy!!

Nice garage space. I have been to Gothenburg twice on business travel and the thing that struck me both times was the large number of apartment buildings and the small number of residential homes. Is a garage considered to be a luxury in Sweden?

Very nice shop!! You sure have a lot of equipment and tools set up.

That lathe is a real beast!! Do you mind sharing how you did the pre-paint preparation on the lathe and what painting technique you used?

Depends where you are; many places on the country side have a proper barn that gets turned into a garage. Not always a pretty American-style garage, but there's bales of hay next to an old scooter (teenagers can't drive, they're limited to scooters) and an old Volvo/Saab, and some old tools. Other places have normal houses with a detached garage... I can't say I've ever seen an American-style built-in garage in my travels in Sweden.

A few weeks ago my wife alerted me that her cousin was aranging a barn sale. Luckily we got there before they opened for the public and I got to poke around undisturbed. These are my findings, a set of old military tool cabinets and a beautiful vintage workshop light. :rocker:

Hello again , long time since my last update.

I got an old table grinder from a friend , he said it was broken but it was just a cable problem and now it works just fine ,
Then I finaly had the time to build the ramps beside the lift table, its 90% finnished but it works just fine , total height from the floor will be 110cm when its upp the whole way .

soon i will start isolate the garage on the inside so I dont have to freeze my *** of in the winter ..

These lights are sold for ridicoulus money in fancy vintage stores, like 5000 - 7000 kr. (about 750 - 1000 $) Hope you paid less...
