I was looking on French website and noticed they sold some hand tools from Black&Decker. I never saw them before.
Do you know them?

I have a single B&D wrench. It's large 1-1/4", maybe. It's marked made in "west Germany." I assume it was contract production by one of the German tool manufacturers.

Black & Decker is a well known brand in the USA. It has been around for a hundred years or so. Most of the tools they currently sell in the US are consumer grade. I don't have any info on the quality of the ones you posted.

I do know B&D quite well. I don't like this brand a lot, at least the newer stuff. We still a few old electric tools that are more than 20years and work still nicely (most of them are made in England though), but their new stuff are just enough for light DIY use.
I never saw hand tools from B&D before this weekend. I was curious to see what people have to say about. I ordered the pliers, just for curiosity sake ;)
I almost bought the wrenches set, but I already have 2 sets from Acesa and Wurth.

I have some american B&D hand tools. a 3/8 short handle ratchet, adjustable wrench, several pliers of various age & size. None are awful, but none are spectacular. I have a few box wrenches but no combo or open end.

B&D in Europe is somewhere between what Stanley & (now for us) Dewalt hand tools are. rough equivalent of low to mid end Craftsman here. But here, they're typically considered very low end.

Interesting thread, Years ago in the UK you could find a range of Black and Decker power tools, nearly in every DIY store, I still have a drill and jigsaw somewhere, But I have not seen much these days, so many tool manufacturers and brands, the market is flooded,
And I have never seen the hand tools range, I would give them a go, they look good to me,

The Target store around here carries the full line of B&D hand tools.

Including the battery operated auto adjusting crescent wrench...

Enough said...:)

When I was growing up B&D was some decent stuff. Nowadays, not so much.

Black & Decker owns Dewalt, and is now part of the same company as Stanley Tools, Facom, USAG, Sidchrome, Etc. The ratchets in that large set look similar to the Facom ones. Whether they are the same though is the question. Stanley/Dewalt has been playing around with branding. Some tools sold in France are high quality tools from their better brands that have been relabeled as Stanley from some of their other high end brands. Other tools may be cheap imports. I presume with the Black & Decker hand tools Stanley is simply trying to take the Black & Decker brand name and make it into a line of hand tools instead of just a line of inexpensive power tools, similar to the way they're trying to make the Dewalt brand into a line of hand tools in the USA. It should be noted that Black & Decker at one point did sell professional quality tools under their brand, usually with Industrial or Professional, listed as the quality level.

Judging by the look of the ratchets in those sets they are the typical cheap Chinese junk. Every ratchet I have seen with that particular handle and overall style has been total garbage usually found in homeowner tool kits never intended to be really used.

i think their screwdrivers (Sora) and clamps (Ideal) are made in Germany as well as their VDE pliers (Orbis)....The rest is overpriced junk :)
