I do not believe these even have ball bearing sliders. I would not even buy it, I rather have the HF tool box

X2, I have fondled them and they are super flimsy, can't imagine loaded with tools. If that is in your price range, go for a HF 44", same price but so much better. Can't believe I just said that about craftsman, O how times have changed.

I have the top cabinet and it's ****. I regret paying the $175 that I did instead of putting it towards a HF one. I will probably replace it with a HF one and put the craftsman on a workbench or something for storing junk.

I wouldnt even buy it at the sale price of the quiet glide!

^. I have to agree. My over arching option is that the craftsman boxes are the worst value out their. HF and menards master force are both better value for home use IMHO. My craftsman box is a pile of **** and I look forward to its departure from my garage.

He'll yes, forgot about master force tool boxes at menards. You can even get them in different colors now.

I'm stuck with my craftsman ************* box setup, can't afford to get to do it over again anytime soon. I've had it for almost 4 years now.

My bottom drawer was stuck (something was sticking up in the back and since you cannot (easily) remove the drawers it took forever to fix and when I was done (and angry) I kicked the bottom drawer in too hard and bent the **** out of it.

Two of my bottom drawers where tweeked so badly they where rubbing the paint off the drawers below them. I had to buy 3 new drawers off amazon to replace them. By the time i noticed it my warranty was up so i had to pay out of pocket.

Looks like someone dropped the drawers in the factory and tweeked their squareness. They probably put them in the cab anyways hoping no one would notice it.

I have outgrown my box big time. I'm looking to score 3 of the Masterforce 56" boxes and build them into a bench. I would like a nice snappy or cornwell box but since I'm not working in a shop I feel that the qty of storage is better than quality at this point.

I picked up the 56" Masterforce top chest a few weeks ago. It was the older model and was marked down to $299 for clearance. Based on my experience with toolboxes, or lack thereof, I would say it's very nice. I need something to set it on, but I guess the floor of my garage will work until I can come up with something.

I have this box. The wife got it for me for Christmas on Black Friday for like $500 which included the top chest. It's not a very good box. Thin metal, slides ****, 50 lb. drawer rating and even that seems like its a little much. I figure I'll use it until it dies and get something nicer.

I have a top quiet glide and a bottom ball bearing grip latch. I'm not sure how old it is as I bought it from a Sears that was shuttered a while back. It was the PMTs tool box.

Sears gives the PMTs a damaged box so it had some dings and bent sheet metal. I beat it all back into shape, fixed a couple drawer slides and it all now works fine. For the 100 dollars I paid for it(plus the tools that were in it) I have no complaints

The only way i can explain it is that they are very flimsy. When opening and closing drawers its like the whole box twists, sways and moves.

Im nervous filling it to its advertised weight capacity, i dont think it can handle it.

The only reason i bought it is because it had the drawer layout i needed and i love the color scheme. At that time HF boxes had that ****** chaulky red and not quite the drawer layout or the amount of drawers i needed. Shortly after HF changed the color for the better. If i would have waited i could have gotten the whole setup, side cabinet, locker and all. Its the first bought of buyers remorse ive ever experianced.

The old.ball bearing ones are great. I have one. But the new ones are junk.

How OLD ? When did they become junk ? I see they still have the same part #. Were the older ones not made by Waterloo ? And, are these new ones still made by Waterloo ? Would not be suprised by the trend of - quality cutbacks - from Waterloo though. OOPS, just noticed this is the friction slide, I was thinking it was the Ball Bearing Griplatch, SORRY.

Good to hear, everyone I have spoke to that owns a masterforce box has been satisfied with quality and performance for the price point. The 36" boxes are on sale this week, I am thinking of picking one up.

I was considering a Harbor Freight box, but I felt the Masterforce boxes were a little bit nicer. There didn't seem to be nearly as much play in the drawers on the Masterforce boxes, and the fit and finish just seemed a bit better.

I bought my ball bearing top 40" 2 years ago at a screaming price, I have been happy with it.

I have mine loaded with tools and I am about an everyday wrencher. At the right price I would buy the BB Grip Latch again assuming I wasn't getting it in red.

I was originally going to buy the 52" combo but after checking them out they are too thin/drawers shake and bend easily.

They are pretty flimsy. Of the box stores I would say the menards master force and lowes Kobalt are the best made boxes. I have the Kobalt with the radio and have used it in a shop environment for a year and it's now at home. I have the full length drawer pretty much over loaded and the bottom drawer to capacity. The drawers still slide smooth. I have run out of room and use what was the fridge for tools in plastic cases. My kids make fun of me for it all the time. It's the perfect home box. I had a Mac tech series before that and it not Mac quality but adequate for the home

I never understood that black and red color scheme. Looks like drawers were taken from a black box and put into a red box. Kind of like when you see someone driving down the road with a different color door on their car. :dunno:

But yes those things are flimsy as all hell, can't believe how thin they feel

I know some people love the look, I look at it and get anxiety lol. Hey, that's what makes the world (and this forum) an interesting place. Otherwise it would be boring if we all liked the same things and had the same taste.

I fully agree they are thin. I only bought it since I got the whole set for under $1000.
