My dealer just had one of these to demo at the shop. Its impressive but big compared to the far25. The power is there and the speed is greater, plus the thing is cordless. Ill tell you what once I started using cordless its been very hard to want to use anything corded.

Here is my deal I got mixed info from my dealer and the other thread here on the forum. Does switching from the 14.4v lithium to the 7.2v lithium cause a loss in power for this tool?
I already have th 3/8" lithium impact and I love it. I use it for everything 13mm and less. Interior, exterior, brakes, whatever you name it. That tool is awesome and I love the forward revers switch. Thats my favorite tool and its what got me hooked on getting un hooked from the air hose.

Anyway if I can use the 7.2v instead f he 14.4v without a loose in power I will skip the package deal and just get the ratchet and one new 7.2v battery depending on the price of the kit vs that setup. Hell if I do loose power I am now wondering if the 14.4v would increase the power of my 3/8" lithium. Can anyone confirm or deny any of these speculations? I am not looking for guess's I want an absolute answer or a theory with a great logic. In my mind more battery just means longer lasting not more power. But I also now the 14.4v lithium impact has no where near the power of the 18v I have. If my dealer has one of these to let me demo for a week ill give you guys my opinion but its probably going to be bias as I seemed to have taking a huge liking to the cordless approach. Heck I am already thinking it doesn't matter how big this thing is because I can use it with a regular ratchet and still be faster than my far25 with the air hose constantly being stuck on the bumper or something else.

I use the Milwaukee m12 ratchet of the daily. And the convenience of no air hose outweighs its size.

As far as battery size to power. I have but a 18v NiCad battery on my 14.4v SO impact wrench. There is definitely a noticeable change in power.

CTR725 1/4"
CTR761 3/8"

They're the same except for the drive size.

It absolutely would.

The 7.2 battery will not fit in the 14.2 volt tool, but the battery for the 14.2 will fit in the 7.2 tools. There is an extra pin on the 14.2 battery that does not make contact when used in the 7.2 tools.

Anybody know if the SO will come with 2 batteries?

My dealer told me two batteries and a charger. He also said the batteries would be universal though. I guess I'll find all that out on Wednesday if he still has one.

Confirmed the 14v works in the 7.2v 3/8 impact. The 7.2v does not work in the 1/4 wrench though. The chargers are the same and the battery's are almost identical there is a slight variation in the bottom section of the battery that causes resistance when trying to place the 7.2v in the wrench. You could probably force it or modify the battery but I wasn't willing to go that far. That's where my hand is placed so if my battery is in the way there is a good chance my hand is also in the way.

$359 comes with two battery's and a charger. I love it. It is a little big but I use it more than I ever used my far 25.

So I wonder how it compares to my Milwaukee ratchet, I'm a snap on kinda guy but I love my 1/4 Milwaukee. I would love to have the snappy one but i could get a Milwaukee 3/8 for far less.

Honestly I wouldn't even bother with the 3/8" it doesn't have the power. I have no doubt the 1/4" has all the power it claims though. It's also pretty fast compared to my old far 25. It seems stronger than the far25 to. The only thing I don't like is the light. The ratchet is already bulk why add a light that adds more bulk.

my m12 ratchet died this past week.. almost 2.5 years of daily abuse it seems to no longer have any torque even with a fully charged battery. my snap on guy had these on the truck a few weeks ago but i said i never needed it but maybe its time for me to get one.

anyone compared it to the m12?

I have compared the M12 to the SO. I returned the SO. The SO did have a higher RPM and 2 batteries. The charger was not interchangeable with the 7.2v. The M12 had more torque and the body of the M12 is significantly smaller than the SO. I really liked the SO and bought it thinking I would trade in my M12's but there were too many little things that made it undesirable for my own person use.

If you don't own any kind of electric ratchet, I highly recommend looking into getting one. SO or M12 will be a clear winner over an air hose.

Well I finally got my hand on one toady.i didn't get to use it but I played with it on the truck.the rpm is higher than the Milwaukee but the body is bigger the battery is thinner but wider, and the head is longer and bigger than the Milwaukee.i like the trigger button I like over the flap trigger on the m12.it is also taller and maybe a bit heavier.overal it felt strong and very well built but I've not been impressed with snappy air ratchets before also not impressed with their 7.2v li-ion cordless guns. My dealer was trying to get us to trade in our m12s but for $350+ and 1year warranty from china? Yea ill pass, keepin my m12 and buying the 3/8 version.dont get me wrong if I didn't have my Milwaukee I would of been very tempted to get the snappy.

I purchased a Green version last week. So far, so good. Good battery life, torque and speed. The ratchet head is much larger than my Matco and has a greater overall length. I just couldn't pass up the GREEN color

I see some guys out there are comparing the Milwaukee one to the Snap On one. Has anybody who has Milwaukee cordless tools had issues with sending out their tools for repairs?? Sooner or later ALL tools break. Im just wondering if Im gonna be SOL on Milwaukee.... Just looking at the pics online of the Milwaukee vs. snap on I think I like the Miwaukee better (cheaper too).

Any thoughts out there on the IR cordless ratchets?

I'm bringing this back up, I'd like to know if anyone else has any opinions. I have the Milwaukee M12 3/8 ratchet and asked my dealer about trying a 14.4, he said vast majority of sales were 1/4". The head on the Milwaukee seems fragile (although I haven't damaged it) just wondering if I should consider going to the SO or look for a 1/4 Milwaukee.
