Taken last week at our final walk thru. Moving in tomorrow. The garage is completely bare, looking forward to getting in there and making it mine!

Thanks. Nothing special on the inside for now. Bare 2x4s and the only light is from the garage door opener  Picked up a lot of good ideas here, so I will be sure to turn it around.

Got to get the before and after photos. You will regret it if you don't, and we want to see!

Not bad for being 30 years old. The reason I put the 2 sides only is so you can't see all my junk. It needs some attention, Iv'e let life and my wifes health problems get in the way. That is soon to change. Its a 40x70 morton, stick built.

Well I did snap one pic as we were getting moved in. Its a bad cell phone pic, but you get the idea. Needs drywall, lighting, tool boxes, benches, a refrigerator, and a tv. Was able to get the racecar in there so it can get acclimated to its new habitat.... I promise to share progress lol.

Here a picture of my garage (and house). The garage is about 14x39 and I've just started with the inside. I started building the house five years ago with help from my father and some friends.

^ Very nice! I really like that stone, do you happen to have more info about the stone?

Not much property seperation though!

You are correct. It's a 40' wide lot and 26' of it is house. They really pack 'em in up here. Keeps us warm during the 9-month winters!

I'll see what I can dig up. I recall it is a cultured stone product from a company called Corrado but I'll see if I can find the actual name of the stone. Thanks for the compliment on it. We went back and forth for a while with our exterior choices, and we are happy with the results.

Re: My Sanctuary....

I had to do a double take when I saw this picture. I have an architect bookmarked because of a similar "outbuilding" he did.

I'll take that as a compliment. I am no architect, but I spent years trying to figure out how to build something that would look right, receive approval from the various boards (historical commission, ZBA, etc.) and give me as much space as possible on that section of the property. All in all I am very pleased.

I couldn't find my original post in this thread so I am not sure if I posted more pics than that. The gable end is what is seen from the road, so that was of prime importance. The rest works- cedar clapboards, appropriate style lighting, etc. Aside from the fanlight in the gable end the windows are modern, but high quality aluminum/wood (outside/in).

I added a workshop addition 1.5 years ago. Most of the windows on it face the rear of the property, so some not having divided lights was not a big deal. I did the inside in yellow pine (floors T&G, walls/ceiling shiplap). I gave the floor a few coats of tung oil.

Wow!!! I'm officially pretty jealous right now

That looks fantastic. I am assuming the table saw against the door serves no other purpose than holding the French door back against the wall though? The reason I ask is that I don't see wheels, and I'm fairly certain, you aren't going to drag it across those nice looking floors.

But it is a beautiful job and a beautiful place, both inside and out.:thumbup:

A doorstop?!? No way! We close the doors so that the cars don't get (too) covered with dust and then go at it. A shop vac with a decent filter cleans up the mess. The saw is pretty light and easy to move around- although someday I'll get a better one with built in dust collection (and that one will need a permanent spot). As for the floors, the boys (5 Y.O. twins) drop hammers, race cars, etc. They're giving it patina!

Thanks for the compliments.

Hey Nathan. That sign hung in my local dealership's parts department for a decade or more. I found it in a friend's garage quite far away. Love it! My parts stash is actually upstairs, but I get to see the sign more often downstairs.

This is not a reply but can't seem to find pics of what I am looking! I would like to see pics of a garage on a hill and how it was decorated to hide so much gravel and contain it

Try a quick web search for "bank barn". Building on a hill is pretty common in many areas.
