I have been following ways to clean the racedeck floors. I was just wondering if anyone has ever painted their racedeck once it is beyond cleaning. What type of paint would you use for it or would you have to dye it? Just curious on what to do once my racedeck ages beyond help.

Yes, you can paint over Racedeck tiles. You'll need to get a two part paint with a flexitive additive for it to resist cracking or flaking. You'll need to treat the tiles as well, removing *all* traces of grease or oils. Removing the tiles and having them cleaned with a hot water / steammix should do it.

How much will it cost? Oh, probably $20-50 per tile to do it right. And when you're done the paint will still chip and scrape off easily, so you can't use it for walking on, rolling carts or other items on. By all means do not ever put a car on them. You'll ruin the paint.

So, technically yes, you can paint them, but it's far cheaper to just replace the damaged tiles.

12+ years on my Racedeck. A bunch of engine rebuilds, 2 full body off frame restorations, half dozen gearboxes and/or transfer cases. Lots of welding/plasma work and the damage to prove it. And my tiles still clean up as good as new. I would think you don't have to worry about painting them for a century or more.

I'm wondering whether the question is even serious. Paint plastic tiles, come on! Might be looking to see if anyone takes it seriously.

Not to hijack this thread but can you put porcelein til over Racedeck? Just kidding.:scared:

There was a guy on DIY forums put tiles over carpet. He did get a sensation that the floor was moving afterwards. Then got sued by owner for making a mess, and cost of repair to the messed up floors.

And then he disappeared in shame.
