This seems like a decent deal to me for the average weekend warrior...

Kobalt 1/2-in Drive Click 50 Ft-lbs - 250 Ft-lbs Torque Wrench = $59.97

Kobalt 3/8-in Drive Click 20 Ft-lbs - 100 Ft-lbs Torch Wrench = $39.97

These are Taiwanese made but reports indicate that they are well made with all metal construction and a lifetime warranty.

I have had both of these for a few years and they have held up great. seemed to be very well made and have kept their accuracy. Very good price.

Good to hear from someone who owns one. I need a 3/8" for my cabin but have reservations about buying cheap. I may grab one of these. Thanks to the OP for sharing.

I ended up buying a cdi 3/8 5-75 because the kobalt range does not go low enough. But i wont sell my kobalt because I feel it is a good wrench. the box says it has a lifetime warranty but the manual says one year. Its not as nice as a cbi cut for that price or even full price they are good and seen to be well made. I like mine. I would buy them again.

Get three at HF for $35... not much difference in design... just as good in quality and accuracy according to people here..

I think in this case, the box would trump the instructions, especially considering how Lowes operates.

I agree because the employees are not going to open the case and read the manual. there is a YouTube video of a guy who bought a broken one on eBay and took it into Lowes to exchange it for a new one.

Do they come with blown plastic protective cases?
In my opinion, A protective case for each of my torque wrenches is a must. The last thing I need is a precision calibrated tool being bumped around and getting its accuracy knocked out of tolerance while opening and closing my toolbox drawers.

This is the last place I would believe a review, but in this case they are correct.

The Kobalt 1/2 drive goes up to 250 foot pounds. I;m satisfied with mine

Exactly

When I read stories of people breaking a particular tool by the dozens and dozens where in going on nearly 40 years of turning wrenches I have broken perhaps one it sets off the ******** detector.

Secondly folks here often pass judgment simply by where something is made without even using it to deem it junk. That too is ********

I have a Kobalt 1/2" and a bunch of HF torque wrenches, to me the Kobalt is much nicer and locks more securely than the HF models.

Damn, hope they're still on sale when I get paid on Friday. Could use a 1/2 that goes up higher than my no-name I've been using for years (and still works accurately somehow).

I went ahead and picked up both last night.

The Kobolt's come with fitted blow mold cases and a lifetime warranty. The HF's may work just fine but after handling both, there is no doubt in my mind the Kobolt's are better made. Will that equate to higher precision, better consistency or longer life? Time will tell but at this point I'm happy with the choice I made.

The thing about the HF is its been proven time and time again to be accurate. I don't like how short it is though, and the mechanism comes bone dry.

Well this isn't meant to be a HF vs Kobolt thread. Just simply alerting people to a sale price. Everybody can make up their own mind as to which one to buy.

BTW allinon - I remember reading your thread about your Masterforce toolbox and how you painted it because of the color. How pissed were you after doing that and then finding out that now that same box is available in blue from the factory!? :lol_hitti Man would have been pissed!

Not very....I bought the box on clearance and did not have to special order it. I don't mind putting in work :pimpflash
