There are a lot of ratchets out there but what is the one that you tend to grab first? (The one that you would flip your lid if it went missing, you deem your favorite, use the most)

It can be any size, any make, regular, flex head, round head, mint condition, gone through hell, but the rule is it can only be one..

Post with pics, but the picture needs to be of your ratchet and not some random photo on the web. Post why it is your go-to ratchet!

A Craftsman RHFT 3/8", and a old Thorsen 3/8" exposed gear ratchet.

I broke my dads old triwing years ago and took it to sears to have it replaced. Up until that point, I thought all craftsman ratchets where triwings, I had never seen anything different. They told me a replacement would be mailed to me. A few weeks later, this POS ratchet known now has a RHFT shows up, and I think to myself what a rip off! After much use, it really is a great ratchet and now I have two more just like it.

After signing up here and reading about all the great tools other than the truck brands and craftsman, I found the Thorsen ratchet at a pawnshop for $1 thrown in with all the china stuff. It's not a fine teeth ratchet, but the clicks are firm and it feels great in my hand.

One of these days I will also have craftsman RHFT ratchets in 1/4" and 1/2" also.

My go-to is a Mac MR6PA 1/4 ratchet. I work alot with 1/4 tools and anything bigger I end up using air tools. This ratchet works very well for me.

My go to ratchet is a Snap-on F936.

Yep, though one of these days I'm gonna pick up a Dual 80 to see what the fuss is about.

I bought a couple of Armstrong MAXX ratchets, and they may earn a spot with my old Snappy but they aren't there yet...

FWIW I have a plethora of ratchets; I don’t have a GO TO ratchet. I take joy in grabbing something different each time I do something.
I am fond of Easco/craftsman/KD/Napa RHFT ratchets, but out of all that I have I do seem to grab my ¼ kobalt roto head (Taiwan) a lot.

Don't laugh but I'd say it's my HF Plastic Ratchet. (at least for normal/less demanding tasks).

Otherwise it's my Cornwell JR72. (IMHO the finest 3/8" ratchet on the planet.)

My goto ratchets are my Craftsman Butterflies (flying V).
These are the ratchets that I handed to my grandfather while I "helped" him work on his cars as a kid. I have others, but these are the only ones that feel right in my hand.

Use 1/4 or 3/8 most of the time, if one went missing first, that will not happen but if ever. Think I would without throwing a fit, just buy another. As long as I can still get a ratchet without the Gumby handle.

One? Oh wow. I have one for each drive..

1/4 gear wrench Roto head
3/8 mac xr11
1/2 proto 5452a

Reasons

1/4 - the grip is long enough I can get my whole hand on it

3/8 - its long and has a small head

1/2 - kinda fine tooth, handle is thicker then most. Feels much better then my mac vr10/15

I love my Williams B/S-52 ratchets, very smooth, fine tooth action.

Probably behind those are my Wrights in each drive size, 80-84 tooth, except for the 1/4" drive which I think is a 40 tooth ratchet. 1/4" drive one is TINY and great for small spaces.

I've got an old Cornwell 1/2" drive ratchet that was my grandfather's that I've been using for 15-20 years, and it is just tough as nails. It was my first "good" ratchet outside of cheapo imports or Craftsman RPs.

I just picked up a S-K 3/8" roto ratchet and it is quickly becoming my favorite flex head.

I have 25 or so ratchets, so I have plenty to choose from. It really comes in handy sometimes when I'd otherwise be swapping between two or three different sockets. Now I can just put a socket on each ratchet and dispense with swapping sockets repeatedly. Makes the lack of a quick release pretty much a non-issue.

S-K 45170 round head, hands down.
Second choice is an older 77 series Thorsen roundhead.

I've had them both for more than 30 years and they're still going strong.

Got a bunch and love them all, but this one is usually the first I reach for. Never thought I would warm up to the goofy handle, but it's alright. Mostly it's the combination of the right length in a 3/8" and locking flex head with the fine tooth that appeals most.

I'm old school. Technically it's one ratchet, just 4 different drive sizes. They've survived close to 70 years of use, I figure with the rebuilds they should go 70 more.

That's my go-to at home which, admittedly, isn't that often. Cameras aren't allowed at work to get photos of my real go-tos...

You all are gonna rip on me but just plain jane cman 3/8 rp ratchet.

Same here. Older cman 3/8" rp. However I recently picked up a kobalt flex head 3/8" from the hot deals section. I must say it is really growing on me.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that reaches for the Williams B-52 first. Just wish I could find the 1/4" drive.
