It's funny - I've got Snap-On, Proto, and I like my six or seven SK ratchets,
but I find I do first reach for the old Craftsman round head quick release.
Guess they're just old friends, had 'em since the 70s.

The cornwell is very nice and the wright and snap on are also very nice but I picked up a nice little well used napa ratchet that is very sweet.;)

Say, which one is it? I picked up one not long ago in a kit. Seems its going to be awesome. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, can't say if it can replace my mac xr11, but it might since its more fine toothed then the mac, but also shorter.. lol

Gonna guess that's a fine tooth model. They made those down the road from me for years for many different companies (mine's an Easco). They're great ratchets and in my opinion were only truly outdone when Dual 80s (et al) came out.

It's a combination of the smoothness, the high tooth count, the handle (comfort and length), and the flex head. The flex head has saved my *** some many times. It was worth the $60 I paid for it, but I would also pay $160. Love this ratchet.

Snap on fn100. I grab it and it feels like a old friend compared to my dual 80 that I have actually had for a year and a half more. It just fits right in my hand. And I abuse the snot out of it

Gotta say it's my 1/2" Craftsman V Series, belonged to my grandfather. It's the only thing I have of his, and I will continue to beat the **** out of it, just as he did, until it dies. And I will not warranty it.

Harbor Freight Pittsburgh Pro Composite. I bought them for truck tool box spares, but use them most of all. I just like them.

Here is a picture of the set I mentioned before.

Anyone know who manufactured these Tru-Test sets for True Value? It's from the early 80s before I was born.

Mine is just the basic Craftsman 3/8. Gets the job done, and beats the hell out of those Chinese ratchets you find in those cheapo roadside kits I grew up always using as a kid.

I have the 1/2 one as I just needed something 1/2 for the drain plug in a Ford 8" rear. I am actually pretty impressed with it, and it works great with the Pittsburgh Impact sockets I already had.

Craftsman RHFT. I've been using them for so long, they feel like an extension of my arm.

TL72 with red Gray Tools Canada "unbreakable" handle from I-don't-know-when. Next would be Armstrong locking 3/8". Or finally my S-52 for really big jobs, but I don't have many of those...

My go to is a are red handled Snap On 3/8 which my tool guy told me would be rare. I bought it in the early 1990's. It has no part number on the red handle, as he told me it was very limited. It definitely says Snap On USA on it.

I've grown quite fond of the Proto/Facom "palm control" flex ratchets. I don't have the 1/2" model, but for 1/4" and 3/8", they're my first reach anymore. They're under appreciated IMO. 72T with 13T engagement, it's pretty stout.

My goto is a half inch drive Proto 5449. I saw it at a pawn shop for $30 I asked to see it and the direction selector didnt work and the anvil just spun. He was embarassed so he said I could have it for $10. I bought a rebuild for $19 and it is sooooo smooth.

Now I need to get a decent 3/8" ratchet to replace my husky POS.

Craftsman thin profile ... 3/8" and 1/2". I really like the quick release and smooth mechanism.

That is a great deal! The only thing that bugs me about Proto ratchets is the backwards lever, but they run so smooth that you learn to deal with it.

Same here; not entirely sure why but lately I have been grabbing the HF composite 3/8 ratchet more than anything else. I just did a timing belt on a friend's Sebring last week and used it for just about the entire job.
