Very nice  Clean, open, well lit, 4 post lift. What's not to like.

Mind sharing some pics of your tool box? I have the same ones (sorta) and just curious how others are organizing theirs. How is yours holding up?

Nice shop!

Just wondering why you have installed the two O/H doors at the back of the garage when there is, essentially, no place to go?

One of my sons is an Electrical Superintendent at the Ivanpah Solar Project. I like LV, but all of the lots are so SMALL! Best part of LV is its close proximity to so many National Parks.

Thank you.... I put in the doors in the back: 1) so I can roll a car out... There's enough room for my VWs to maneuver. 2) I like opening the doors for the light and ventilation.... It's nice and open air.

More photos coming soon!

This is my first Ghia project... A "Low Light '59". The shop was built for that project. I had the Ghia in a $100/month storage facility for 20 years; one day my wife did the math and realized how much I had already invested in the car.... D-OH! She said, "build the shop!" LOL GOOD IDEA HONEY!

Shop built from start to finish in 6 weeks!!!

The Bug engine: 2276cc dual 48 IDA Webers (Original Italians); MSD 2-step; ****-Trak tall manifolds; CB Street Eliminator Heads 44x37.5; A-1 Tiger 1-3/4" exhaust; Berg Mid-mount; Tracy Grimm chassis brace..... Runs Mid-13's all day long - easy launch at 1500rpm on radials (really difficult to hook up) capable of 12's on slicks! IT RIPS!

Looks Great Steve. What did you apply on the concrete? The floor looks good.

Orlando

Pigmented acid stain on the concrete + sealer + 4 coats of liquid industrial wax. The high gloss diminishes after a few weeks of traffic... Super nice to use a dust mop and a push broom glides over it very efficiently. As soon as I finish building the benches, shelves etc... I clean and hit it with a few more coats of wax.

FYI I have designed offices, restaurants, fitness centers and other facilities using stained concrete treatment.... Has help up very well! and if you ever get tired of it, strip the wax with a neutralizer and re-finish with anything you want!

Great looking addition! I love that rose (?) red used on the exterior; what is it? Your addition seems to have a partial second floor to the bay behind the house or am I not looking at the pictures correctly?

I had a '56 Oval window once. It was the first project car I ever had! Always wanted a Karmann Ghia... but it has never happened... yet! Great space you have!

It appears to be a "partial second floor" but it's just attic space.... I wanted to continue the roof line across... I installed "return air filter" hinged louver panels in the ceiling, to allow the evap cooler to vent up through that attic space, and out the wall vents you can see in some of the pictures.... works great, provides attic access - in the winter i slide in a piece of rigid EPS foam board to stop the draft. The paint color is called "copper canyon" a Frazee color if I recall... basically a terra cotta color. very "deserty"

Hey I didn't know you had a thread on your garage build... Very impressive! And that work bench is awesome.

Now go get some stuff done in there while we have this amazing weather before we get cooked!

its been awhile since i posted any updates..... I have since added some barndoors to divide the workshop and the car stall - easier to keep warm in the Winter.
After 25 years in storage, the '59 "Lowlight" Karmann Ghia is alive! In search of 12 sec ET for 2015 season.....

Very nice. You need some VW parts up on the walls.
