Another site I like is gsalr.com for looking at what's close. I've put myself on a five mile radius since it's so easy for me to burn through an entire tank of gas.
Today's haul is probably gonna be the best so far for me.
I responded to a Craigslist ad showing a couple toolboxes for sale priced at $100 and $200. They were a few miles from home and the seller responded to my message while I was out.
These boxes were stuffed in a shed and it was a job just getting to them and getting them out,but I believe the sweat equity is well worth it.
The boxes themselves are Craftsman,MAC,Huot and Remline.
To my surprise all the tools were included!! https://plus.google.com/photos/106928859612271645253/albums/5887590825388637825?authkey=CPGnpsvk4s6QNQ
I put all the photos in a Picasa Album, hopefully they can be seen by all.
Here is just a few preview pics, like the Snap -on Section:
There is alot of MAC,Proto,S-K,Craftsman yet to sort and go thru.
Did end up with a 3/4" dr Craftsman Teardrop ratchet, some 3/4" drive SK's sockets.Right now still sorting and identifying.
I plan to list most of it for sale between here,Ebay and Craigslist.
I will listen any offers and can provide more details about anything there.
I am currently trying to get my 16 year old to catalogue, photograph, and begin the Ebay process as a part of his summer employment.I promised him half of the profits if he is willing to invest the time.
Thanks,
Andy
That was a great haul, congratulations!I saw that one this morning and had too much going on. That'll learn me.
$4 got me these two hatchets and a old Craftsman 1/4" breaker bar.
One hatchet is a plumb Boy Scout hatchet and the other is a Kelly Works. It is flat on the other side. I have been told it is a ship builders hatchet and a shingle hatchet. Does anyone know for sure what it is?
And how old is the Craftsman breaker bar is? It has BE stamped on the bar to the right of the name. No other marking on the bar.
Thanks, John
It is nine4; Good eye.
Nine4, I'll bet you can get that black rattle can run off using the Simple Green and paper towel trick to soak it loose/off... Be a shame to lose the SUN markings on that thing.

Well, I haven't been on here much yet this season but I just had to post my recent yard sale score...
I got this beauty for $70!
View media item 31160She was pretty greasy but I just gave her a bath.
View media item 31161A few scratches and minor dings but I think it'll work just fine.
Saving the "AFTER" photos for when it's full O' tools!![]()
Hello all,
I think my favorite find at a yard sale is a mystery box of tools. I don't even pick through them much until I get home. Its like Christmas on a summers day. I hope the pictures post OK.
This is my first post to the site so I thought I should start by showing off this weekends find at a yard sale. I met this elderly gentleman selling off his father in laws tools. He had been a mechanic for Chevrolet back in the 30's and 40's. I was just after the 1931 #1 & #2 Craftsman tappet wrenches and a few sockets and he ended up selling me the entire lot for $4. Mind you this was late in the day so unfortunately the ratchets had sold. Still, there were still a lot of tools in the box. Here's a few of the things I got in the deal. The big surprise was at the bottom of the box buried under some dirt and sawdust. The Key to Chevrolet Performance.![]()
Didn't find too much at garage/estate sales this weekend but found a few things a the local flea market.
Ratchets
SK 1/2"
Snap On 3/8"
Snap On 1/4"
Craftsman 1/2"
Walden 1/4"
Universal
Circle H Craftsman 3/8"
Pics were before I cleaned and lubed 'em.
That's what I'm hoping. I plan to take good pics and duplicate them if I can't save them as they are. There is one deep scratch across the right side logo I noticed. Check the vintage tool box thread for a pic with the top **** off. It was only two lile 1/4" bolts holding it down and one of them had come loose already.
saw that on CL but it disappeared very quickly.Nice Score!!

Stuff I found from last weekend. Just had knee surgery so it took a little while.
