If the badge looks decent I would have probably given $20-30 for that box but I collect old Craftsman and have very few of the oval badge boxes.

I just saw two today at the flea market by my house. Could have gotten them for about $10 for the pair. Condition was a smudge worse, but not bad by any means.

Old Craftsman tools/boxes are very abundant around me. Back in the day there was a Sears in just about every shopping center around here.

It could have been a sticker on a box that small, but the build style, latches, and handle say 60's to me. Also the "type font" of the Craftsman name.

The Bernard pliers are parallel pliers, soak that rusty wrench in vinegar and it will clean up nice.

thank you sir! i just googled parallel pliers. i had no idea what they were, but they sure looked pretty damn cool for $4. i went back to the same place today to see if they had anything else i had missed, but they didnt.
i thought about cleaning up the wrench with vinegar and salt treatment i read about on here but i kind of like the rusty old look to it.

Insane is right. The last pack I bought of regular Camels [non-filtered] was $8.75. I remember when they were 10 cents a pack at the PX or a quarter out of a machine and you got 2 cents back inside the pack wrapper. Today it's allmost all taxes.

Does not appear to have been modified by a prior owner. In fact, there is very little in the way of signs of use or abuse. Large end is 7/8 in. and the small end is 9/16 in. with an overall length of about 10 1/4 in. Paid $2 for it.

Any information will be appreciated but am most interested in why there are no sizes marked on it.

Picked up this Wright Scaffold Ratchet today for $2.50!!
I bought one through a previous employer 2 years ago for $95.
I contacted the Union steward on that job and told him I would pass this on to
someone starting out,maybe just doing scaffold for the first time,etc.,
cash poor or in need to help out a fellow union brother/sister.
I'll wait a few weeks to see what if he finds someone.If not off to Ebay.

Today I found a few things at an estate sale.
An Industro 1/2" ratchet,10 shallow 12 point sockets,the largest is 1"
a 13/16" deepwell ,a 20 mm combo wrench,a 6" 1/2 dr extension
along with an Industro Toolbox.
Packaged a few more items in,like a couple tap handles,set of allen wrenches,and a combo square center finder for $25.
The sockets are Industro Select.
My second and third stops netted some Bessey Clamps,a box of Craftsman sockets ,a pair of Klein pliers,some C'man awls,picks,&screwdrivers.Total on those two stops was $41,the clamps were $10 each and the sockets were $15 for the entire lot.

That is rather strange. It does look like the ends were ground down, professionally at that, to reduce the thickness. They don't match the finish of the rest of the wrench. Additionally it is strange that there is no date stamp code on the piece. What do the ends measure? Are they a common size? It may have come with a power tool. Much nicer than the usual stamped junk they include these days.

I stopped by a few sales on the way home yesterday. No good hand tools or the like. Probably saw 10 black and decker corded drills though. I did however luck out and found a brand new leather USA made steering wheel cover for $1, something that I needed. But I was most excited about a 3 month old USA made deep cycle battery that has been maintained since with plastic enclosure box for $8 total. I really needed one for my small outboard, but didn't have the $100+ to spend on it right now. Sad, but yes I was extremely happy to buy a battery.

Very interesting. I agree that it looks like something that may have been supplied along with a tool, for adjusting/blade/cutter changing, etc. I think the tipoff would be whether it is chromed all over. The jaws have plainly been ground after forging - if they are not chromed, I'd say it's owner modified. If they are chromed, it's pretty much gotta be original.

When I first saw it, my thought was that it might be a tappet wrench. It wasn't until I got it home and realized that there weren't any markings that I started to wonder.

It's 1/4 inch thick on both ends.

The ends are ground and if it was owner done, it was likely, as you said, someone with access to machine tools because the finish is perfectly uniform on both ends and both sides, and the body of the wrench is centered relative to the flats.

Hadn't thought about the chrome finish and had to go look at the wrench again. It is chrome all over so it may have come as an adjustment wrench with a tool.

Chisholm-Moore (pre Columbus-Mckinnon) 3/4 Ton lever hoist. Don't need it but it was made locally so it has interest to me, seems to work fine though before I ever put any load on it I would go through it. And was cheap @ $10

Yesterday a Snap-On 3/8 drive flex-head ratchet FHLF80. Works great but has a beat up handle that needs replacing. I typically don't buy the truck brands since the prices they typically command are too high for my use. But if the price ($10) is right then they are alright with me!

Hit the one very local yard sale that said "tools" but also opened up on Saturday rather than Friday. Since I work on Fridays the Saturday openers give me the best crack at any good stuff. House was on a dead-end street in a very old part of town. 99% of the people in my small city probably haven't even heard of the street.

Only me and another guy there at opening and he was into other stuff. Not too many tools but some older Williams and Proto stuff. The ratchet was the only tool truck brand that I saw. Picked it up asked how much and the guy is like ahhhhh......... $10. Nice guy so we talked quite a bit about tools for awhile.

So basically very lucky other than making it a point to hit the Saturday opener first.
