I don't speak from a truck owner's perspective, but since they have a somewhat scheduled route AFAIK, I'd try and meet up with him at a regular stop he's already making.

Depends.

Some dealers will give you a discount if paying with cash or if you ask and become a regular customer.

If in his territory he can sell to you.
Will he?

That's up to him.

80/20 rule.

:)

I will sell to anyone that comes on my truck. Don't expect to "flag down" a dealer on the road. For security reasons, I will not stop for someone flagging me down on the road. Your best bet would be to go to a local independent repair shop and ask them when their dealer stops by or ask them for his number.

IMO the initial contact piece is the hardest...after that its all downhill, smooth sailing. I had TRIED to go thru SnapOn to get the franchisee info...nobody in my area, yadda yadda...One day I pulled into an autoparts place to get some windshield wash and who's in the yard..the Mystical Snappy Truck.

I hear that in my neck of the woods a few months ago they found mac truck pulled over on a exit ramp and the driver was gunned down...it was a sad day but they caught the two people that did it

I've been retired for 5 years and I still deal with the same two Snap On Dealers. I never pay internet prices and both dealers will give me discounts on what I buy. I can also call my Snap On dealer if I need somthing, On the right day he will stop by my house.

I was on the hunt for a new set of orange hard handled screwdrivers but snapon doesn't sell them on the Internet anymore and eBay prices are ridiculous. So, I saw a snapon man parked at a dealership one day and asked him if he would sell to an average joe. He invited me on his truck and, guess what, there was a set of orange hard handled screwdrivers. He let me have them for $79. I also bought a new hard handled 3/8 ratchet off of him too. Nice guy and a pleasant experience. Plus, it's nice being able to get the tools right away vs. ordering and waiting for them to be delivered.

Mine calls me about once a month to see if I need anything. It all depends on the rep. The first one I found didn't seem very interested in doing business with me. The next guy was very helpful and gives a decent price break for stuff he has on the truck.
