FoMoCoPower, :scared: you really **** Average $100 per box that was a fantastic deal. Super jealous over here. :bounce:

anyone know what that mb century could be worth?

Depends. MB made good boxes, and even made boxes for snap on. They are just not well known to the masses. Also that is a smaller box, but it does look to be in really good shape.

$40 was a good price.
$50-75 to sell to the average user
$80-100 tops, maybe if you find the right person, but it will probably take awhile.

If you found someone that collects MB, who knows? But an equivalent snap on box would bring much more than the MB counterpart. That looks like a Snap on KRM54 IIRC

The MB Century series were the best of their toolboxes, and are essentially identical to an equivalent Snap-on (No mystery there as MB made SO boxes for many many years). n some ways better than the SO as I think that is full depth,17-18 " right? I think the SO boxes were slightly less deep.

Hard to put a value, as it is VERY area dependent. I sold taller well used version of that box for $275.

reason #7463 as to why I love evaporust.

Notice the cruddy SK pliers in the upper corner?

22 hours later....

Were the pliers completely submersed in Evaporust and the handles clean from that or is there another force at work there?
They look really great.
Can you store the used evaporust and use it over again?

thanks,
Andy

From the pawn shop again.

7mm, 10mm craftsman wrench. Older Proto wrench (9/16 x 1/2).
Diamalloy needle nose pliers (which I actually need since my needle nose pliers are ****)
A Proto adjustable wrench.
And the big mamajama, Easco 1-1/4 combination wrench.

All this for the low low price of 12$ :)

Nice find, I have a couple smaller Easco like that if you are collecting.

Thanks. not collecting, I just liked it since it was pretty huge. Would make a good wall hanger (until I find a bigger one :p123 ) - and hey, you never know when you'll come across a 1-1/4'' bolt!

nope, just straight evaporust, completely soaked them... I always have something soaking, so I leave that 8x8x2 tin pan out 24/7, but yes, you can store/reuse it, just filter and funnel back into its original container.

Found this on Sunday, just now having an opportunity to process the photos and get it posted.
Liking the patina on the sockets/breaker bar.I think these would clean /polish really well but not sure I want to change the look.I realize the ratchet does not match but it fits for now.By looking at the timeline I am not sure that the oval logo is proper with the circle H on the tools. Is it possible that it is the end of one era overlapping with the beginning of another?

I don't have a lot of sentiment for this set so if anybody is collecting and really wants it I'd listen. And I am not out for profit just for what I have invested.

Thanks ,
Andy

Autozone has it on sale this month for $16.99, if your local store doesn't stock it, see if any of the others in the area do.

Alinc,

The box and possibly the Chrome ratchet are 60's or so, and the rest of the tools are mid 30's to mid 40's or so.

Chrome ratchet is 50's, they haven't made a box head in forever... and didn't the crown logo come out in the late 50's, replacing the oval?

The oval ran from late 40's to early sixties, and the crown from VERY late fifties to early 70's IIR. There WAS a lot of overlap as the worked with the multitude of suppliers and their ability/willingness to retool, not to mention NOS warehousing of slower moving stock...

This last weeked was my oldest sons wedding. It was in Libby MT and I am dressed up and going down the highway on the east side of town and I saw a yard sale with an axe leaning up against a table!

I pull a U turn and pull up and get out. The axe is a well worn Kelly Works. I look on the table and there is a Mann Knot Klipper and a Firemans ax! And a a Cman 1/4" drive deep 12 point sae set minus the 5/16".

The Firemans ax has a indian head stamp on it. I think it says American Ax, Ga....(something), PA. Anyone know about that company.

Anyone have a Cman 1/4" dr. 5/16" 12 point socket to complete my set??

John

This is what $20 got me today. One drawer pull is banged up but all the rest work pretty good. Also included were the plates, no name brake spring pliers, and a pair of vise grips.

I remember that box... you must have got there right after I left! They were listed to open at 9am and I got there about 8:20.. 8:30 or so and took home a huge box of Snap-on and Mac sockets and a few wrenches. Guy had a nice full sized floor drill press he tried to sell me too!

I was waiting for you to say that you were at this sale. He was telling me there was one guy digging through everything and he took about half the sockets earlier in the morning, must have been you. I went later, I was there probably around 1:30.

I wish I had time to go through the taps, dies, and drill bits. I looked at a few of the taps and I think most of them were decent brands.

I don't know if you've seen the ad for the sale up in Waterford, I got a hold of the guy and he wants $250 his Wilton vises so everything else is probably priced similarly.

Hello all!

This is some of my booty from last weekend. I got the wrenches, a Gerber and Leatherman multi-tool (Not pictured. In use), the tiny wood lathe, and the tap and die set at the same sale for around $20.00. A few of the wrenches are Plomb and I ended up trading two duplicates to a guy I know for the tray of Craftsman BE sockets. I'm digging the die set because they came from the Blaine shipyard here where I live. It was made by Wiley & Russell and is almost complete. I have some of my grandfathers tools that came from the same shipyard, so I'm glad he wasn't the only local stealing from the job. I found the tote of tools at another sale for $5 and an old Sears rototiller for $15. Good weekend all round!

That would have been $67.50 at the garage sale I just left... Lady had things marked 5x higher than retail and 50x higher than garage sale prices with an ad saying "Everything Must Go" :lol_hitti

$9.50 for this lot. The forks are for my wife. I am going to make bracelets out of them.

The Plomb 3/4" wrench was my biggest score. They are pretty rare around me. The other cool piece was the Oxwall set (I know it's not the most sought after brand, but for $1 I swallowed the hook). It's brand new, still in the box. Anyone know the era it was sold? The others were a 1" Blackhawk wrench and the SK 1/2" extension. Can't read the name on the wire cutters, but I always like the cool markings they put on the older ones even know rubber handles are much more comfortable.

I got a rusty little Oxwall set a few weeks back. I looked it up on the web and it originally came with a few more items than in the disintegrating orange box. I derustified them all, polished the sockets, sanded the wrenches and the drive, painted them shiny silver, and repainted the holder in machine gray. Three of the wrenches are 6 pt, three are 12 pt. Overall, a little monument to ****. But still, pretty cool. Gonna display it mounted in a picture frame when I get around to it.

Picked up a major overhaul project. Recognize the model? Circa? Spent a couple hrs thus far on massaging & cleaning. It's soaking in oven cleaner 4 the next 2 hrs. Should have it clean & for for lining & use 4 my vintage tools later today. Gotta make my 1ST attempt to get the drawers out by making a slide releasing tool out of a broken in 1/2 hacksaw blade like I read online. Bet it's a pain?

Will post some after pics later today. Thx 4 look'in
