How to install siding on a shed that will be approximately 6" away from an existing garage, this is what I am trying to figure out. The shed will be about 10' x 10' and will be built on a slab (existing). Siding type is undetermined until this question is resolved. Any info/help is greatly appreciated.

Gotta see what you are up against. Why build something that will permanently only be 6" away from another building??

You might be able to put it on before you lift the back wall into place, while it is flat on the slab.

This how I did it when I built a 4x10 shed and there was less than a foot clearance to the fence. It was completely painted and all I had to worry about was nailing the corner trim.

Here is a pic of the slab. I just shot it, the reddish coloring is the color of the slab. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1372304214.158418.jpg It was necessary to keep the existing foot print of the old shed (keeping the wife and neighbor good). Actually there will be two sheds, one for storage and one for tools etc.

The garage looks like it built with concrete block ?

Rather than build a structure just 6" away from the wall, why not take advantage of the existing corner ?

Could you lag bolt a ledger onth the existing structure the run your roof rafters off of that?

Could you lag bolt the end stud(s) into the concrete block?

Even if the existing structure is something other than concrete, I would see how I could save some materials cost by building only 2 walls rather than 4.

If you build it as a separate structure the space will fill up with junk that will be hard to remove, think about what the others are suggesting and use the existing walls for 2 of your sides. my 2 cents. Jeff

If you want it separate, I would do as MadMech has described or build the shed and then slide it backwards onto the slab.

This is what I would rather do as it's what I did on my garage.

I poured the slab one year while doing a new floor in the garage.

Then as I started the outside of the garage, I enclosed the corner.

And finished it with a matching roofline and siding.

Hey Guys-
Thanks a lot for the info, tips, & suggestions. Since the sheds will be completely different (design wise) from the existing garage, I will keep them separated. I think using the build & tilt up technique will also work for this project.

I have been considering a curved corrugated roof for the sheds, anyone have experience curving corrugated metal (with minimal kinks)?
Thanks again,
Eric
