I think if you got more then $500 you'd be doing good...Maybe you will find someone who was ready to buy it from Costco and would take yours for $700...To save $125 for a $1000 box wouldn't really motivate me to jump on it...I think if I really wanted it, I'd keep watching it in the store for a sale or a scratch and dent...I have picked up things with a small dent for like half the price...

I don't think it's a bad price at all but that cabinet falls into the "niether fish nor fowl" catagory.

It's too light duty for a pro or someone wanting a pro or "truck brand" box to buy but likely too pricey for the bottom feeders looking for a really good deal.

A dual bank HF 41" (aka 44") goes for $369. Add a top and you are at $800-900 or less.

AFAIK the Trinity boxes are well built, but in that price point sector, there are a lot of used (and HF new) options unless talking truck brands.

If in no hurry let is stew for 3 or 4 weeks if not more at that price.

Pros want pro names. Hobbyists/home owners want cheap.
Nature of the game.

i've bought and refurb/resold a lot of those types of boxes... mostly from Costco under different brands like CSPS, HammerHead, Trinity, Knight, etc. the asking price does seem a bit high to me, but each area is a bit different. they tend to sell really quick under $400. A fair price i think is usually $500-$700. I often buy under $400, some times damaged and fix them up, polish the stainless, etc. and resell for about $500-$600 and it goes within a couple of weeks.

Below I took your ad and I made the info that is not relevant to the buyer red. I would remove all of it. Also, the second pictures makes it look like there is a stain on the side of the box so it does not look as nice as you claim.

Trinity Stainless steel rolling tool box. Ball bearing slides. Very heavy. Not a cheap box. All the larger drawers have 2 sets of ball bearing slides per side.
It had a Snap-On emblem on it when I bought it. NO its NOT a Snap-On. If this was a Snap On it would be $3000, not $875. Trinity makes a great box. I had a Craftsman that could not handle the weight of my tools in the drawers, that's why I bought this box because of the wider drawers having double ball bearing slides on each side. They are $1,599 new. Here is a link. The drawer configuration is slightly different, but it is the same box. Actually this one has a better configuration and more drawers. Both locks work and I have the keys. Was only used in my home garage and is not beat up in any way. No scratches or dents. I have all the paperwork also

However something isn't adding up. The box linked and the one at costco both have only 11 drawers. The box the OP is selling has 16, which I find to be MUCH nicer.

OP, does trinity still make the same model and box that you have? The 5 extra drawers are really a nice selling point. I would say maybe lower your price to $700 and sell for ~$600-$650. By posting the link to the 11 drawer trinity box, you are basically shooting yourself in the foot. Because people then think of the costco box for $1000 and thus lower the value of your box. When in reality your box is much nicer (IMHO) because of the 5 extra drawers.

After looking at your local CL. Boxes are not really abundant or cheap in your neck of the woods. I would probably list it at $700 or even $725 and let it sit for a while.

Trinity does not make this configuration anymore. $500 is what I want for it. However, if you are familiar with Craigslist, you know whatever price you list, someone is gonna offer you half or less. I could put it in there for $100 and people would be offering $25 and $50.

I would probably list it for $700 (tops) and be happy with $500 or more....I think $875 would scare me away, big time..That's just me..And you could point out that yours has more drawers then the one at Costco...If anyone brings it up, whichthey probably will...

If it wasn't stainless and closer Id almost be interested. My dads stainless kobalt is hell to keep clean. Maybe that's another negative to it to some.

Most CL people have a very short attention span and or are reading challenged so...


1.) Delete the link to the lesser box. It is hurting you, not helping.

2.) I find it is more useful to just put a price, no OBO or BO. ObO and BO are like magnets for tire kicking, low balling scum bags. So maybe $700
I find that if people are going to make an offer, they are going to make an offer anyway, even if the price says no offers or even "firm" :wtf:

3.) Take some better pictures. Inside the drawer, side of drawer to show ball bearings, etc.

4.) Do the drawers have drawer liner in them?

Then you later come back to say it is better than the one at costco because it has more drawers. :wtf: I just thought it was funny when you reference the average craigslist person assuming it is the standard costco box, after you yourself did just that. :beer:

Ahhh, maybe because I compared the box in his link to the one on the Costco website..:wtf:..I only glanced at his picture and went right to the link and compared his link to the Costco site, and I assumed this was the same exact box..Please forgive me for this mistake :headscrat.....Yes, after another member pointed out that his was nicer (with more drawers), I did realize that it was slightly different...(I don't think it will matter all that much, but if someone was tetering on whether to buy the box, or not, it might sway their decision..It's not like most buyer's would spend hundreds more for 5 more drawers.Maybe you would, but I would not)

He's in Delaware. That's a stone's throw from my area, South Jersey. Philly is close too. There's a good selection of toolboxes around here.

His box is off-brand but not a cheapo, that's his problem. It won't bring the price of a top-shelf box just because of the name, even if it is well built.

OP, let it sit on CL for a few weeks to a month at $700 or so. Drop your price by $50 once a month until you sell it. Its worth what the market will bear. Probably $500ish is a realistic number.

That's pretty high for an off brand box. In my area, I wouldn't even give off brand boxes a 2nd look unless they're dirt cheap because the brand name tool boxes are plentiful.

I think you may want to consider dropping the price quite a bit if you don't get calls.
