Some pictures of my latest purchases from Frank. If you want to purchase Japanese tools Frank is the man to see.

KTC brake bleeder kit. I used it last week to bleed the brakes on my Father's Camry. It worked great.
P1000160_zps64e6ade7.jpg

Kuken lightweight 1/2 impact-very smooth and quiet, a very nice tool. Koken stud removers and installers. Koken square plug drivers. Koken Attack Driver kit.
P1000161_zpsf1afe2cb.jpg

Koken nut grip socket set. Koken extra thin wall impact socket set for lug nuts. Koken adapter set. Oxygen sensor sockets.
P1000162_zpsed55153c.jpg

Koken impact sockets and deep sockets. KTC sticker scraper with extra blades.

I got a few other things, but they are put away so no pictures for now. I am expecting another order this week so I will try to get some more pictures when that package arrives.

Ricleh,

Nice stuff, as always. Just wondering...what are the special features of that KTC scraper? Thanks.

gbh,

Nice price on those combis!

Frank,

Thanks for the photos, but aren't there more to share?! :p

Until then, here's some uploaded by people who visited: 2013 Auto Service Show

Cosmik,

Looks interesting. I guess it's a torque wrench that measures deflection of the beam....like a beam torque wrench.

Monte,

I couldn't find any part #'s for those ratchets, but here's a couple more pics attached. They are beautiful peices for sure.

AWESOME !! do you know any part numbers for them ?

Monte, I checked with KTC, and they are very limited edition, hand made by unique wood craftsman. Only available in Japan for at least the next year. Cost 300,000 to 500,000 Japanese Yen. Cost has not been established. This is similar to the fine quality Wood Lacquer product made in Japan by artisans..

Nothing special about the scraper, it is just a nice sticker scraper with replaceable blades. It works very well. I have rarely been disappointed with any Japanese brand tool I have purchased.

Mitutoyo IP67/coolant proof digital sliding caliper. Bought off of workshop department at my job for roughly $16 :) With case (with small tool and lube oil), and has not seen use since calibrated a year ago.

Edit: wow, I can see it's actually on sale for $250 on amazon, think I did good on this
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003U9VZNE/?tag=atomicindus08-20.

Except mine came without the adjusting wheel

Some of the Beta tools (generally the 'top end' such as the all steel 'aerospace spec' ratchets) are bought in from Ko Ken!

If you've got to buy stuff in from somewhere, that's good choice!

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy the Ko Ken tools though!

i do know that Ko-ken makes lots of socketry stuff for Beta, hence my "other way around :D" remark at the end... ;)

but this time, the Beta branded one was the cheaper of the two: less than 20.00€ from amazon.com shipped! :rocker:

too bad that the pricing of their Beta stock remnants is looking like a day to day roller-coaster.

Just wondering if there are any koken must haves?

I'm afraid there are quite a few!

Ko Ken make a huge range of socket wrenches and accessories, and you probably need to go to their website, have a look, and see what you need for your line of work!

They make the best impact driver I have ever used, and also a superb stud puller, but there is a stack of other stuff, much of it unique, and all of it top quality!

with its new best friend from Germany:

and one of those famed stud pullers(this one impact rated), also sold by Beta and lotsa lotsa brands all around the World too:

i would add their impact sockets, 3/4" stuff and, well, like Dave455 said, pretty much the whole range is top notch so buy whatever suits your needs and wants! :D

Kūken is not Ko-ken... ;)

my beloved one said that a Snap-on ratcheting screwdriver is quite lousy and a bit on the tiny side for heavy screwing duties... :D

beside, she prefers a real screwdriver with a dual density grip that you can really get a handle on...

Cosmik,

Nice Beta and Ko-ken stuff.

Beta once supplied Ko-ken with wrenches....or I should say...Ko-ken once offered wrenches and they were sourced from Beta. I don't think they offered them for very long though. Attached is one example I once posted...(I can't remember if it was here or elsewhere).

Ko-ken supplies(ed?) Wiha with their socketry stuff. If you look at Wiha ratchets they are Ko-ken, but are fitted with Wiha Softfinish handles. They also offered Ko-ken's impact driver.

As for Ko-ken must-haves....

If you are just starting out, I'd probably get your most commonly used socket sizes with the nut-grip feature.
I also highly recommend their Zeal lineup. If I had to chose one thing from that lineup, I'd pick their shallow sockets to start with (they are about as shallow as any toolmaker can make them). The tolerances are really tight, way narrower than any industry standard for hand tools. On top of that, they boast features that just aren't found in any other brand in the world. It really is the result of their long history and experience as a socketry maker.

...I intend to post a new thread to feature their Zeal line, as well as Ko-ken's history as a company on GJ, ....some time soon. More than an year ago I typed up a bunch of stuff about Ko-ken, but I never ended up posting them...totally forgotten.

Makes a lot of sense! Ko Ken don 't make wrenches! Only thing is, I don't think the Beta wrenches are quite such good quality as the Ko Ken sockets!

Totally with you on the Zeal! (They call it Z Series in the U.K) Although they are 'low profile' tools they are hefty enough to use as standard, and the tolerances are awesome!

To get the best from it you really need to buy the Z Series handles as well as the sockets though!
