Dave,
I posted the

because I didn't follow your posts. I didn't compliment you on your repaint. I didn't realize you repainted your 12D craftsman box. I was talking about justridin's repaint of his mystery, possible kennedy boxes. I think you thanked me for a compliment that I didn't give out to you.
Anyway.... I am pretty sure it is from the late 70's to mid 80's based on the following
-The 50-early 60's the boxes had welded on drawer pulls, not full length. Color was grey.
-60's to early 70's the boxes were grey chassis with red drawers and full length drawer pulls
-Late 70's to mid 80's the boxes changed to red chassis with black / charcoal drawers. Full length drawer pulls positioned mid height.
-Late 80's into the 90's and even what we have today, craftsman went to a top full length drawer pull style, red frame and black / charcoal drawers. The earlier drawers were lighter than the more black later drawers.
It should be stamped on the "floor" of the top compartment. Left hand side, inside the long rectangle divider that goes front to back towards the front of the box. You may have to scrape some paint and or rust off of it, but it should be stamped.
Example.
