Greetings forum, long time lurker first time poster!
I was up in Eau Claire Wisconsin for the 4th of July and I found a Wilton 9300S (S swivel base, not N) on Craigslist. Well, it has a few issues but I ended up buying it. This is my first Wilton so it's pretty neat.
I intend to restore this back to good functioning condition. It's currently battleship gray (reminds me of working for the school district) and I think I'll leave that alone.
I will straighten the turret lock handles.
I wanted brass jaws but these are so far gone I'm planning on replacing them with brass or bronze jaws. I've found a source for bronze ones but otherwise I don't know where to look.
I'm going to have to easy-out or notch the screws to remove them.
The cap pins are missing. Does anyone know where I can find these or what off the shelf part could fix it? I believe the factory part is a pin with ribs like a wheel stud. If all else fails I could cut a piece of round stock and tap it square a bit.
This side of the cap appears to have a small piece of metal broken, possibly from someone trying too hard to remove the pin. Is this something I should worry about? Possibly get it fill welded?
On the turret I noticed that one of the carriage bolts does not have a head. This doesn't make any sense to me, is that correct or should I replace it?
Thanks!
