A real tool, A PEN? Which one do you guys prefer?

- Papermate Profile 1.4

What do you guys use to write down on official paper

Usually a paint pen or chalk stick. I get calls while I'm at my fabrication table. I just write the orders on the surface of the steel table. Paint pen or chalk stick is usually what is handy.

When someone says I shouldn't be using a tool sharper than a crayon, they are pretty much correct.

I'm a collector of vintage fountain pens, Parker especially. All modesty aside, my Parker "51" collection is world class. 'Course, there are probably only a dozen of us in the world who really focus on that model.

I'll usually write with a vintage Parker that's nice, somewhat valuable, but not super collectible.

When it's not a fountain pen it's usually a Parker Jotter ballpoint with a Parker gel refill.

Out in the truck for work sheets i use whatever free pens i've got from suppliers! On one job i found a very nice ali bodied pen dropped on the ground, it wrote very nice but the ink was running out which i guess is why it had been dropped!
I looked the Caran d'Ache up online and found they are not cheap so ordered a new refill for it!

I have a Parker and one of those Fisher space pens that a really good bloke gave me before he died (he knew I was a NASA fanatic when I went to a Shuttle launch in Florida)I like to use a pencil and Sharpies for some things too (coloured ones are great for hot and ground on wiring diagrams).

I make sure to occasionally grab the pen from the counter in whatever store I'm buying tools or parts from. Those get thrown in my backpack, toolbox, pockets and between the windshield and dash of my worktruck. I have found that now I always have a pen handy. It's pretty cheap as well.

I received a Cross set from my dad when I graduated. I treasure it for sentimental value, but it doesn't write worth ****.

For day-to-day use, nothing is better than a Fisher Space Pen, imo. It's one of the nicest writing pens I've used. And it's made in the USA.

I must be something of a snob at this point, but I blame my wife for getting me into it. For work, I turn my nose up that the garbage they buy in bulk and bring my own pens. Personal favorites are the liquid gel ink pens from the Pentel Slicci line in .4mm or the .5mm Pilot Hi-Tec-C line. Once you've used a high quality, gel ink pen on 80g French notebook paper, you won't go back.

I generally use the Pilot Hi-Tec C .25mm in my Ti2 pen... However it will only write on high quality paper with that small of a tip.

I HATE the thin uniballs.

When on the shop floor , Black sharpies, white paint pens and yellow grease pencils (to which the grease pencils are Gov't sourced made by the prison system.)


For snobbery use, yes, I have a genuine Mont Blanc uniball.
Gift from an old "Friends with benefits" encounter that she gave me.
