Which slatwall system have you used in a garage environment and what would you recommend? Which vendor?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Not sure what brand mine is but I would highly recommend using the kind with the metal inserts. Other wise with serious weight it just tears apart. I found mine on Craigslist.

I bought mine at Home Depot...the standard slatwall. I got my hooks, shelves, etc, at Gershell Brothers in Phila. They sell all kinds of display stuff for stores.

You can certainly opt for the slatwall with metal inserts but I havent found it necessary. I have shelves that have (for want of a better word) outriggers for extra strength. The roof and windows for our Viper roadster are Keaton this shelf.

x2

Half of my shop is standard, half has the metal. I've managed to tear out a couple of lips of the non-metal with some shelves. Keep in mind I'm talking shelves with probably 200 pounds on them! (Rock collection = dumb idea)

Also, unless money isn't an object, keep you eye open for store fixture liquidation sales and other places going Out-of Business. Great deals to be found.

Also, all my slat was was primed and painted with a roller. It didn't matter halw was woodgrain and half was gray.

I'm cutting and hanging french cleats all over my walls spaced 9 inches vertically between from scrap wood. You could buy a sheet of plywood and cut I think 19 three inch rails for the price of 2 of the slat rails.
