I did it once, no problems or questions asked. I broke a friends 1/2" breaker bar and a ~18" long 1/2" extension. They didn't even check the items over.

I don't think the lifetime free replacement applies to the power tools. :dunno: I didn't even know kobalt made power tools?

well i wasnt sure how the warranty is broken down with handtools vs powertools. was just a general question.

they sure do make powertools. just do a fast google search you will see them.

They replaced a couple of my broken screw extractors and a tap. The tap was part of a set and they just exchanged the whole set instead of the one broken tap. Tap broke way to easy.

You're right, I just realized I had a brain fart. I actually own a few kobalt air tools that were clearance / display models. :p Still I don't think the lifetime warranty applies to power tools like it does to the hand tools. But to be honest I really don't know.

I've had to warranty out a couple air tools. 3 year no hassle on them. Warrantied a couple older model ratchets...no issues there either. Gonna see if I can warranty out a torx driver as soon as I can get my **** into a store.

Warrantied the Kobalt mini bolt cutters, and exchanged them for the Knipex that were on clearance. I did pay the difference, but that was fine with me.

one funny story, I bought 1/4" ratchet+socket(made in USA) set. the ratchet stopped working after couple month. I took it back to Lowe's and the gal asked me for the receipt. I told her I didn't keep it and it's part of a set. now....., after spending couple minutes with the store manager on the phone, she asked me to bring back the whole set and she would exchange the whole thing. of course I told here everything else on that set is ok. nope, her way was the only way.

Luckily my home is only few blocks away.

I haven't warrantied any Kobalt branded tools, but my warranty experience with Lowes has been nothing short of EXCELLENT.
A) Bostitch Utility Knife, 100 year warranty...Stanley gave me the "Mail it in and we will evaluate it". Ran it over to Lowes and swapped it out with ZERO questions and a smile.
B) Mayes level..one of the vials popped out, called Mayes and they said the agreement with Lowes is Lowes does the warranty in house...ran it over to Lowes and same thing...service with a Smile.
