I have a 3 car garage that sits behind our house and I can't see the garage doors unless I go outside and look. A few years ago I bought receiver and 3 transmitters from Chamberlin and put the receiver in the house and mounted the transmitters on each of the doors. It would work sometimes but most of the time it didn't. I tried talking to someone from their tech department, but that was a waste of time. Anyone have any other suggestions so I can tell the positions of the doors w/o having to go outside and looking ?

Chamberlain makes an internet gateway that plugs into your router in your house.

You can control the opening and closing of the doors from your computer or smartphone.
Their Garage Door Monitor that tells you if your garage door is open/closed from any room in your home.

With the Internet Gateway I can open/close the garage via my smartphone from about anywhere.
I also have light modules. Did I mention the app is free and via MyQ there is no monthly charge?

same app as craftsman, it looks like...but that will only work if the garage is in Wifi range...it may need a wifi signal booster as well.

I'm considering this myself. The "new" frequencies that doors operate on are problematic to say the least. I have to get withing about 6' of the door before the opener responds. With the old frequencies, I could open the door from over a block away. Also, it seems that I've always "borrowed" an opener, and then don't have it when I need it. With this, I could use my phone which I always have...

How far from garage to house? If you're game for some digging you could put switches in the house to run the door up and down. If you want to get fancy you could put limit switches on the doors and lights in the house to show door position.

Perhaps this goes off topic....but I would like to know more about the Foscam wireless cameras.

The ability to see what's going on in my detached from the house would be great.

They work great! I've got 2 of them in my house - one in the garage and another in a weatherproof enclosure in the back yard. They are the FI8910W and have IR as well as remote pan/tilt. They connect to my router over wifi so no cables other than power are needed.

They go on sale for $65 on Groupon every now and then.

I have 2 of these as well. I have it set up to email pictures when it senses movement at a chosen time range. I use IP cam viewer pro to see/control them from my phone. Here's some pictures of my garage pitch black in the middle of the night.

What you want is some kind of feedback at receiver showing status of each door if it's in the up or down position? Seems simple enough.

Maybe a light panel with simple ckt. that looks at the electronic eye signal of ea door.

If it's an attached garage and you can wire it, I would always favor a wired approach rather than wireless.
