So, while I figure out my garage lighting situation I decide to just get a Y socket splitter. While holding on to a couple of splitters it dawned on me that I could perhaps string a few of them together.

I plan on using 23W CFLs, so 4 would be less than 100W. Each of these things is rated to 660W and the original socket is rated to ???. I'm sure it's at least a 100W but that's probably more a heat related rating rather than a current carrying one.
So, with CFLs is this safe? $6 bucks gets me an equivalant of 400W (92W draw realy though). I have 2 light sockets plus garage door lights. So over 1,000 equivalent watts for next to nothing.
