Anyone own these and can post some photos? Kind of curious about the quality. Note these are the newer pinned versions that they released in the last couple years not the older style with the joint that can be tightened with a screw.

I bought metric 1/4 and 3/8 sets from Zoro during their recent 30% off sale. They are very nice. Much better than the cman sets I have. Nice tight joints and excellent broach quality. I will take some pics later. Anything specific you want to see?

You got it all wrong. The Craftsman is on the left and the Proto is on the right. :D

Thanks very much for the photos. Mind taking a couple more pictures, one of a couple Proto sockets looking top down into the socket themselves and then flipped over looking into the drive side?

Sure, I can do that. The broach quality on both the drive and socket ends is excellent.

Not trying to persuade you, but these were unavaialable for a few months, just got an e-mail that they are now available. I just ordered these and praying to god USA. If they are USA worth everypenny. Aug 11th is Friends and Family so you qualify for 10% off also there is a coupon for $10 off a tool purchase of $100 or more.

I have the 6pt master set in 3/8 and 1/4 drive they use to sell. The quality leaves something to be desired. The plating is crummy and the pins have quite a bit of slop from the factory. You can actually see the spacing the pin has in the 14mm comparison that BB26s posted above. 100% better than nothing and fine for the weekend wrench but otherwise... eh...

Agreed, the difference between Proto and Cman is night and day. In addition to the pin slop, the broaching on the socket ends of the Cman are horrible. I believe they use the antiquated hot forge process which gives them poor dimensional control. Strangely, the drive ends on the Cman are fine. :dunno: I don't know if you could tell from the pictures, but the Proto's appear to have little splines all the way around the pin to bite in and provide just the right amount of resistance when swiveling.

Except for those weird detents whatever they're called...

Actually, all of my Cman swivels have the regular single notch/cutout detents. Not sure why they do not have the double stake design found on their regular sockets.
