NAPA 3/8" impact - Matco / Cornwell

After looking at the Matco 3/8" impact and the Cornwell 3/8" impact and then seeing the NAPA 3/8" I realize all three are in fact the same gun minus logos and color differences, so thinking through my wallet I chose the NAPA. Same specs except Matco doesn't list the 500 ft.lb. break away torque. Another difference is warranty, the Matco and Cornwell are 2 years through the truck where as the NAPA is two years for repair, but not sure if the tool trucks offer a user while the gun is out for repair.

Good info, thanks for sharing. I have the Cornwell one that a snagged off of craigslist for $160 with a full set of deep/shallow metric sockets. Minus the grip and some cosmetic differences, looks to be the same gun to me. No complaints yet

Actually those impacts have substantially more power than the IR.

Supposedly they have more power. I dont know havent ever used one. My cornwell guys says he has alot of guys trading in their ir and snappy 1/2 & 3/4 guns for those models.

Have u ever tried one? I have the Cornwell and I see or have had no issues w/ the trigger. My Cornwell runs circles around the ir's in my shop. It gets borrowed quite often when the ir doesn't get the job done.

I'm a heavy truck technician and those impacts are awesome! I have the 1/2 version too and I think they are better than the IR. I have had both.

Those things do crank pretty hard. I don't own one but a few guys at work with them and they whoop the pants off the IR guns. I am a fan of the power however I do not love the trigger/directional control set up either, looks like it is going to get bent or messed up in just a matter of time doing any kind of work that pounds the snot out of a 3/8 gun.

If size matters, get the King Tony america M7 in either 3/8 or 1/2 drive.
Smalllest impact with a lot of balls. Northern Tools sells a clone of it in 1/2 drive only for about $79.

I've got the NT version and it has saved my *** many times in tight spots, especially crank bolts.

King Tony also makes the smallest profile impacts socket set available in 1/2 drive metric. I've had a set about 3 months now and it has been extremely handy.

I have and am currently testing an M7. Its noticeably weaker than my 325 which is in turn weaker than the PT Taiwan impacts.

Napa has boots for these as well 3/8 is part # 6-1139, 1/2 is part # 6-1140 although it looks cooler with the Matco boot on it IMO

I was wanting to get my old IR 3/8" impact I used to have. I realize now they don't make it anymore though so this might be a good gun to get now.

Yeah they are really that good, I think it is slightly smaller than my IR. I have had zero problems with the selector or trigger in the few years I have had both of mine.

I beilieve its as good or better, I use mine to take semi truck lugs off on a daily basis. It's a little smaller and quieter than the IR2135TI. I really like mine. I was torn a few years ago when I bought it betweeen this and the Snap On MG725 and I'm glad I got the Cornwell. A couple guys at work have the Snap On and It's heavy and bulky compared to the Cornwell.

I just purchased the NAPA 3/8" version shown in the OP (NAPA # 6-1122) and have high hopes based on all the positive reviews of these NAPA, Cornwell, Matco guns. Agreed it looks better with the Matco boot.

Interesting about the King Tony wrenches. I'd never heard of those and the small size looks useful. That 3/8 wrench is tiny! I looked over at Northern Tool and their 1/2" version (sold under the Klutch brand name) is priced at $75. Thanks for the heads up.

I liked my older 2115. Great gun but eventually upgraded to the 2115Timax which was noticeably more powerful. Like it even more than my MG325 but if the Napa gun is just as good, then it's a steal.

i find it funny, because it always makes me think about when people say that they pay for the best. and then someone picks the same thing up for half the price with a different name on it.

just the name of the game i guess.

No doubt! I will always buy the OEM if I know about it. Sometimes it's not possible but it makes it more interesting. I do not own a compressor so the pneumatic tools are out but when the time comes I will absolutely be buying one.
