got my new compressor, mag starter is different from old one, don't know for sure where incoming (L1,L2 ) connect hopefully the attached photos show well enough thanks,pete

The contacts are always straight though, if the terminal is labelled with a voltage that will be the coil, the top will be L1, L2 and the bottom T1, T2 the bottom has the OCPD on it.

If this is a new compressor and already wired, the L1 and L2 terminals will not have wires in them or they will be attached to the incoming power cord. the T1 and T2 will be going to the motor.

It looks to me that the two left most terminals in the first picture would be L1 and L2. The third terminal seems to already have a wire in it.

That looks like a 3 ph starter with overloads on the bottom.

A better picture and model number would help.

got it figured out! it is a 3 phase starter, the one wire is used to "trick " it so it will work on single phase. All good built 175 lbs pretty quick,and lots quieter than old compressor !
