I gotta check the weights on my cars. I know my big Roadmaster wagon is too heavy for that, but maybe my old GTO would fit.

Growing up in the car culture scene for so long with Spy Photos being the top secret preview term, I never thought about the proper ownership of the term. The unit is our first production unit. Just wanted to share for all the auto-crossers and track racers. Hauling around floor jacks and jack stands can be a PITA. Maybe a few entrepreneurs wanting to make a few bucks putting snow chains on cars could benefit as well.

If there is anyone out there who wants to be a product "tester", send me a PM.

That would be way cool for racecars, which apparently is the target market. There really is nothing that competes, except for an electric-drill driven system that is overpriced, extremely slow and includes cross-bars that get in the way.

My concern is what is the minimum wheelbase to fit it in a collapsed position? I race a MG Midget which is pretty short.

Also, what are those separate pieces with the channel at the end for?

This pic makes it look like they raise the car up farther than they do.

Still 17-20" is higher than most jack stands and would allow you to do brakes, oil changes or tires easily.

4.5 sec to raise is pretty darn quick!

I don't have room in my garage for the MaxJax, this would be great. It is more than high enough for the needs I have and will lift my Mustang without any issue at all. Hmmmm, time to start dropping hints about a Christmas gift.

It looks like those are handles to move the jacks into position, lay those over the boxed lower section and move to position.

A: We’re shooting for delivered street price sub $1500.00 range.

Q: What are the separate handles for?
A: They’re positioning handles that quick-mount to the frame if needed.

Q: Is it really that fast?
A: Yes, the DC power unit is quick. The AC power unit is a little slower but cars are still off the ground in seconds.

Q: What about a BlackJax with higher capacity?
A: The initial release will be the BL-3500. A BL-5000 (5K capacity) will be available January 2014.

Q: What about critical dimensions?

Although lightweight, the thing is incredibly strong. We always test to destruction and design with 300% safety factory. We raised a 7,000 pound load off the ground with no failure - free rise 7", then the load. Amazing how good engineering works.

This looks awesome! It would be an absolute perfect product for someone like me who has a weekend track car that's being built in a single car garage attached to my rented apartment (very little space, and inability to add a lift).

I'd be interested with the same caveat as above - car(s) need to be up enough to clear a auto trans with bellhousing resting on a trans jack. That would be important enough here to go from a $1500 purchase to a $2000ish MaxJax. On my cars, very little height to none is required for header install. I have a car sitting that would be good for testing - waiting on a motor (racer speak for "waiting on money to fall from sky ). I'll try to do a measure tonight and see from the specs provided if the clearance is there. My main issue with lifting here is that the Falcon is every bit of 5' tall - 6" taller than the Mustang. Hey, it's a family car. So technically I'd need a tray ceiling in the 8' shop to clear with a MaxJax.

Good to see the HD version will be following. I am very interested.

The brochure said it only weighs 45#. Dimensions of only 61" long and 3" high make them very easy to store as well.

Awhile back I was working on something similar, except wood. Much heavier and larger as well, making them NOT so friendly to store. Plus mine blocked access to tire/wheel work because of the design. Not to mention the fact you needed a way to drive up the 16". That being said, I had my engineers give me a nod of the head on holding the weight I needed.

These are more costly, but better in several ways.

Would have to be on a very dramtic slope to tip over. The bases are quite large and that combined with the downward force and rigid chassis of the car keeps all together. We've performed quite a few shake tests and no problems. Actually, the car seems to be more stable than if loaded on a standard two-post lift. And surely a lot more stable than if resting on independent jack stands.

If you read the copy (I know quite a bit) you'll see that there is an optional motorcycle adapter. An 8” trough that gets attached midway between the frames. Will show pix soon.

 Platform lifting height (with rubber lift blocks): 20” / 508 mm.

Unless I have misssd something, then this isn't much more than portable jackstands. Good for someone that needs to pull wheels off a car a track, but not for engine or transmission servicing. Might be good for a detailer too.

Yea Dan, the original intent was more for track guys – IMCA, auto-cross, drifters etc. But I think it does meet some DIY needs as well.

Because the frame sits so low, it may be possible for many to stack even taller foam blocks or rubber for added rise height.
