On a couple of large purchases, one for a new fridge (saved $200) and another for carpet (saved $140)

I bought discounted giftcards from cardpool.com at a 7% discount, but now they have them marked at 8.5% off.

I notice they were selling HF cards at a bigger discount.

I think they mail from California. The last home depot card order I placed was over $1k so they mailed them priority usps. Those took three days.

I ordered $100 of express cards for the wifes birthday and they took 7 days to iowa. Of the 6 separate orders I placed all mailed the next day. I am very happy with their service.

$1000 item you want to purchase and ask for 10% off. So you are looking at spending $900, right?

Gift cards with the face value of $900 would cost you $810...so with the 10% off that you asked for plus the discounted gift cards that $1000 item cost you $810. A total savings of $190.

You can get 20% off coupons on Ebay. This one only works at Menards, Lowes and Ace Hardware but I've bought several in the past for HD and used them. I usually wind up paying about $20 for the coupon but you can buy up to $2000 worth of merch with it.

HD gives you 5% off if you use your HD charge, just like Lowes. You just have to ask at the register. Even in self-checkout, I just hold up my charge and ask for the discount. Takes them just a second to apply it. Lowes discount is automatic.

I just asked Lowes to match HD's "10% off all appliances" and was denied by customer service and the appliance manager.

I had to buy a 10% off coupon for $1.50 and then I got a $50 mail in rebate.

$130 saved on a $700 freezer.

I have had cashiers at HD and Lowes give me discounts though.
I also show them price quotes(on my IPhone) from my lumber supplier to get a price match on lumber when I need a fast fill in.
