A few more weekend finds:

NOS Cleveland Drill Bit Set ($10):

INCREDIBLE! You have my vote for coolest find this weekend! Lucky me I had to drive to Norfolk Va this morning, then back. Then to Clayton NC and back. Then do it again as soon as I got home (Clayton that is). Burned an entire tank of gas and not one GS stop.

This website will be the death of me. I am buying tools that I may need someday, more than I ever did before. Here are my finds from this weekend at numerous yard/estate sales. The first photo has a small pair of USA vise grips, 2 craftsman USA screwdrivers, a Companion USA wrench, A Stanley tape, these were $2.

The second pic has two new paint rollers, a paintbrush, some fishing string, a pair a Snap on duckbill pliers, a KD oil filter wrench, a red devil scraper, a frozen Crescent USA adjustable (rust), small brass hammer and some pipe wrenches. This lot was $3.50.

Third pic was two sledges, a cement tool and some NOS scraper blades for $3.

The 4th and 5th pics were in the same job lot plastic tool box (not shown). The tools are rusted and the box smells of cat urine (the hose fixed that). For $20 I think I did well. The 4th pic shows my USA stuff to include a hard handle Snap on screwdriver, a pair of channel locks, an SK socket, Craftsman socket, Craftsman wood chisel, Craftsman wrenches, Stanley, craftsman and unknown USA screwdrivers.

The 5th pic is mostly non USA stuff, mostly Taiwan. There may be a pair of rusted USA Vise Grips (soaking in Evaporust now) and a small Craftsman pry bar. I noticed later that their are a pair of Hapewe Germany marked pliers. I never heard of them so I checked Amazon and nothing came up. Next I checked Ebay and their were 11 hits for these types of pliers. There is an exact match that someone in Germany is asking $149 or best. Apparently they are from a toolkit for either a BMW, Porsche or VW. I thought that was a cool find. No idea what they are really worth.

Thanks bluebolt, there was a slightly newer 6x48 on a factory stamped stand that sold on the trailer load too, this one was all that was left today when I went back. No disc attachment, IDK if it came with one factory

All my old catalogs show the disc as standard, I have passed them up in the past becasue they were missing and not priced accordingly.

bluebolt, great deals for a very kind person. Looks like instant karma for helping that lady. Cherrish those black craftsman drivers. IMHO those are far better than the newer cman pro versions. I had to warrnty my small flat head black one and am not happy with the new red/black chrome shaft drivers.

Yea the screwdrivers were my favorite find of the day. I used to have the orange handle Professionals but left them on the back bumper of the truck one day and drove around for a while LOL.

Matt, dang man! you are on a SMOKING hot streak right now! Lots of great finds! Sorry I don't recognize the milling vise, but it was a STEAL! how wide and tall is it?

The first sale was actually $40 for bucket of tools, not $25 (I edited original post). Still did well for my money. You should see what I got last week! I never posted the photos as I've been busy on the repair, but should have it ready to use later this week.

Milling vise is 55lbs. Vise surface is 2x6. Overall size is 17x8.

Bluebolt wins today! Nothing anyone bought can top that!

The best stop was a sale with a little old couple. I saw a old Kennedy box with no price. Asked them how much and they said $15-20 I gave them $17.50 perhaps not a screaming deal but this was so old with different drawer pulls than I have seen on a Kennedy that I had to buy it. Same sale got a 9/32 drive Snap On ratchet with extension and a few sockets mini plier (Not S.O.) all for $3. A Plomb 3/8 ratchet for $2. Snap on socket for .50 He gave me the old valve guide cleaner. I am going to post the Kennedy to the Vintage Box thread to see if anyone has a date on it.

Very nice score! I have a similar box with the exact handles, 20's era IIRC.

I keep waiting to have another bum weekend, but something always comes up no matter how bleak the ads look on Friday night. Going out of order:
Barn sale. Somehow, after being open for an hour, I was only this guy's 2nd customer. Prices on the high side, but I found a nice microscope for the kids and this:

Craftsman ignition pliers (not too old, the markings appear to be etched on), Thorsen USA 1/4" handle, Superior Model 79 meter, and Westach instructions/sticker/etc. My dad collects gauges and automotive literature, so it will probably go to him.

Next up, a target of opportunity. I'm not going to pass a sign that says "Tool Sale"...

A pipe cleaner, an ammeter, a box of feeler gauges/spark plug tools/thread gauges, some machinist's tools, an empty Crescent 8-10" wrench box (the other stuff came in it), and a Starrett 166 indicator.

This was actually the 2nd stop of the day, a place where they told me, "Most of the tools are already gone":

Cadillac BP hammer, Blue Point Ford brake wrench, Barcalo, Cman, Thorsen DBEs, Combos by SK Lectrolite, Penncraft (SAE and metric), SK, Barcalo, Crescent (fully polished, no COO), Penens, some metric Indestro DOEs, and onesies by Blue Grass (long way from home???), Wright, Proto, Tru-test, Armstrong, and Indestro.

Weed Sturdy chain tool, 2 smaller chain tools, a bit of Diamond: FT15s, large SJ, small SJ, auto (?) pliers, Wilde Truarc pliers (snap ring pliers?), 3 older Craftsman pliers, an Eifel Plierench, I think that's a saw set?, small Cee Tee pliers, KD spark plug boot pullers, Pexto music wire cutters (Interested, Outlaw?), Kraeuter Linesman's (again, Outlaw?), "Fisherman's Pincers", I have no idea what the pliers-like item with the round head is . Indestro SJs (pretty clearly made by Diamond), Finally we have Channellocks, Williams Channellocks-like pliers, small Lectrolite SJs, and modern Cman SJs.

I'm not Outlaw, and not nearly as knowledgeable, but I believe Kraeuter was a pre 1950's company that got taken over by SK in the 50's. I have a few of their pliers that belonged to my father. I really like them. Hard to tell from the pic but I'm 99% I have the same pliers, they seem really hefty to me, very high quality IMHO. Do yours have an engraving on the handles or are they smooth? P.S. If you plan on selling them, I might be interested.

Second stop... when I got those buttload of sockets two weeks ago, I took one of his bins and promised to bring it back this weekend. I get there, he goes "hey i dug out 20 more boxes for you to go through!" F..... I got "alright, I got 15 minutes before I gotta get to work".

Outlaw seems to be the only other person I've encountered who's interested in Peck, Stowe, and Wilcox and Kraeuter stuff, which is why I called him out by name.

I have started collecting Kraeuter stuff because it is similar to my last name (Kautzer) I see Pexto stuff every so often, don't colelct it but would like some of the larger metal working stuff.
