Same here. I wonder if they would do a rain check or order one in at that price?

TSC did a raincheck or me on some bottle jacks that were on sale. I find them to be very good at cutomer service.

Soooooo ...

In my new 1000sf race shop I might have 3 phase service (pedestal is next to the garage).

Should I look on CL for a used 2-stage single or 3 phase compressor?

or pull the trigger on this single stage IR from TSC?

I realize what's available used and the pricing is all over the board ... but for a part-time, hobby compressor this seems to be the ticket. I haven't started doing body work yet and realize this machine might not be the right compressor for that. But for general all around stationary air compressor work ... this seems to be the right machine!

Just got the last one in asheville! The guy working at the store looked like he just lost his best friend. He told me he was hoping nobody bought it, he was planning to buy it later in the week himself.

I'm happy to hear that some others have been able to pick up some of these compressors. I know I have been very thankful to others for posting some great deals so I am glad I could contribute to help others. After all that is what makes this forum so great!

Is it reasonable to bring this home on its side? That would be much easier in my truck

Picked up this compressor last year from lowes with 10% coupon and it still wound up costing me ~$679.. that price is a steal! About the compressor, Its 220V and will need the required wiring to get it running. I used a nema L14-20, and some 12-3 I had laying around. It suprisingly doesnt surge as bad when its time to refill. Ive thrown everything at it, die grinder, air sander, impact and it will keep up with everything. If you look into it, I believe if you keep the ingersoll synthetic oil in there itll bump your warranty up. Ive had no problems with it thus far. I have it on the concrete in the garage with a set of ebay rubber anti-vibration pads and 1/2" x 3 1/2" concrete anchors. No problems at all and anyone who comes in my garage has a bit of envy that theres an ingersoll sitting in the corner

Does the die grinder drain the tank faster then it can refill it and the grinder bogs down??

Is it loud??

Iv seen many people say yea my 60gal can run this and that. What they fail to say is how long can you run that tool without draining the tank even tho its running it just cant keep up.

It drains it down quick, but if running constantly it will keep up as its refilling. As far as noise, its a night and day difference compared to my past 110v compressors. I have a really slow leak in one of my lines and it refills at weird times. I can hardly hear it in the house when its running. For the money and what you get it its a really good deal. For what I paid for it, I wouldn't hesitate to pay it again for another.

Would depend on the die grinder, wouldn't you say? But most die grinders use around 15-20 scfm under load, so the answer would be yes for most of 'em.

Strange, tractor supply told me it had to be kept vertical. I had to go home and get my trailer. Glad yours is ok.

This is normally $599 at northern tool around xmas time each year.

That is a great price for this unit. I've had mine for about 5 years and couldn't be happier with it.

It could be quieter in my garage, but is much quieter then the oil less craftsman I used to have.

Yeah, if so. im goign to pick one of these up today!

Has anyone tried to go to Lowes for a price match?

My local Lowes would not price match because it is not a store stock item for Lowes, however, Home Depot price matched it through special order. I had to go to the customer service counter, showed them the web page on both the Home Depot site as well as the TSC site. Customer service handled placing the order for me by calling the online order services directly and verified the model to be exactly the same. The Home Depot online part # (different than the model #) is 202889695 and here is the direct link to the product on Home Depot's site: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/202889...Conf-_-pip_202889695__C031892056#.Uh1pgaPNndo
In order to verify the part #s to be identical, your customer service rep may need to open the TSC webpage from their computer and look at the product manual download, which has the Model # SS3L3 listed in it, which is also the same as the # listed on the HD site.

The one I picked up already had oil in it, so I had to keep it vertical. It also came with an extra bottle of the synthetic oil though. We had to lay it down to get it out of the back of my truck so a little oil weeped out of the pump while we had it laying down for about 30 seconds to slide it out on a blanket. I guess just check it at the store to see if there is oil in it before you decide which method to use to transport it home.

Glad some of y'all got in on this. I'd have found it hard to resist if I had a convenient source of 240v (house breaker box is currently full).

The website link doesn't work anymore. But I went to TSC around 1pm and they pulled the model number up (SS3L3) and it still shows $399 in their system, even though there's a different 60gal IR compressor showing up on their site now for $750. They didn't have any on hand...and couldn't do a rain check cuz it's clearance item. I had them print me a receipt showing price...gonna try my luck at HomeDepot for price match. Rural King said they have to have an actual sales flyer...won't take receipt of webpage...

Home depot online price matched for me. You need to have a hard copy of the quote from tsc and be at home depot to do it.
