Building a new drip tray/ bottom pan for the bbq. The original one(in photo) collapsed a couple days ago while preheating for some pizza. Luckily it wasn't a required piece for pizza. Don't think I lucked out that easy though, still had to run out for an emergency propane fill mid preheat,

I'll put it out in the sun for a few hours tomorrow to try and brighten up the purpleheart/bloodwood, but unfortunately I don't know if it will do much more than it already has.

I had a P0154 code on my Suburban. Bank 2 sensor 1 no signal. I pulled the O2 sensor and found the ground wire busted off. Cleaned it up but didn't have any solder. Fired up the Miller and took care of it.

Old Steamer, thank you for sharing the pics! I enjoyed the story (and even learned something new :D). LOVE the red interior -- that puppy is so clean it's easy to see why you're proud of it. Keep up the fine work ... you've got a fan here.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Well, I decided to re-finish my steel work bench. It was all scratched up and getting a bit rusty. I think the rough surface bugged me more than anything.

Between my palm sander and my die grinder I got the top pretty smooth. There's still some pit marks from the heavy rusting, but hey it's a work bench.

Yeah I know, I probably should have used a flap disc and my angle grinder to speed up the sanding, but I didn't feel like running to the hardware store to buy some flap discs.

I also bolted a 4' outlet/surge strip that I had laying around to the front of the bench.

I still got to re-mount my vise and place my plastic storage bins along the back wall, but that's this afternoon's mission.

For the time being, I just wiped down the top with some WD40 to prevent it rusting. I thought that I would try protecting the top with some SharkHide or Fluid Film.

Thanks. We had a few of them left over from a data center consolidation project at work. I grabbed one and brought it home with me.

Here's the label on the back...

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

A buddy of mine is trading in his 2004 H-D Ultra on a very nice and clean 2009 Ultra Screamin' Eagle CVO model. He is not getting much out of his trade but I really wanted the Rinehart exhaust system that I had installed for him a couple of years ago. I talked him into letting me steal the Rinehart off of his 04 and putting my stock headpipe with Vance & Hines mufflers on his prior to him trading it in. He said sure if you do it.

Monday night I pulled mine off and Tuesday night I pulled his into the shop and swapped his exhaust system out for mine. Wednesday night I installed the Rinehart True Duals onto my 2004 H-D Ultra Classic.

I used a Screamin Eagle Stage II kit taking my motor from an 88 cubic inch to 95 cubic inches last spring but was really wanting to do a complete exhaust system and I have always like the Rinehart system ever since I installed it on my buddies bike a couple of years ago.

Now after putting it on mine and dialing everything in I am crazy about the looks, the sound and the performance.

Mike.

Here is a picture of my Vance & Hines mufflers.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Last night I decided to tackle the peeling and chipped paint around my man door heading into my shop. I also decided to scuff and repaint the front door frame/trim on the house. What a PITA, I am not a carpenter or painter. I don't claim to be, I would rather have a wrench in my hand than a paint brush.:eyecrazy:

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I love it when a plan comes together...

I needed to shorten a post jack - take about three inches off. The post is 1.5", 0.125" wall tubing.

I marked the tube, got out my trusty hack saw and went to work. After about a minute I was maybe 1/4" into the tube and my arm was already getting sore!

Then I says to myself, "Hey self, remember that package that's been sitting in the front hall for a week?"

So I went and unpacked my eBay Milwaukee porta-band, plugged it in a went to work. The blade slipped right through the tube with no effort in about 30 seconds. I should have had one of these years ago!

Well, I decided to re-finish my steel work bench...

Finished up my steel work bench re-finishing project yesterday. I put down a couple of coats of Shark Hide then cleaned and got everything back in place.

Cold beer bottles no longer leave rust rings, so the Shark Hide must be doing something.

It was my laundry room actually, but I fixed the water heater, despite the protests of my idiot plumber. $150 for a new temperature controller/gas valve and a replacement FRD from Rheem instead of $600+ for a new water heater? Yes please.

Pulled the seats out of the ranger and doing some cleaning of the interior.

I am also fixing the radio bezel as it was getting scratched bad and the Sirius radio had to come out.

I'll finish the interior up, replace the fuel filter and go through the underside to make sure everything is good to go!

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

I finished up a Slant 6 valve cover for a guy in Arkansas, prepped and deburred a big block intake, and finished and boxed those custom Mickey Thompson SBM valve covers I was polishing on earlier in the week. First the 'before' shots of the M/Ts -- they were a lot of work ...

Yikes! Yesss, that oil filler opening was rebuilt with silicone at some point in its past ...

Here they are now -- all metal once again :D -- in Starburst Orange, a fabulous rainbow metallic, over Ink Black.

Close up ...

View attachment 278541

Still pictures do NO justice for that rainbow metallic. If you really want to see what it looks like, here's 48 seconds of Leanna's Friday Powder **** via YouTube

And the shop's new mail box I've been working on in the evenings is almost ready to debut out by the road. The old one's been hit by huge farm equipment and knocked into the ditch so often it's not much of a billboard anymore LOL ... so I didn't spend a lot of time on bodywork for its replacement either. This is Bentley Blue over Heavy Silver; the outgoing mail flag is coated in Wilder Red over Heavy Silver, and I just left the U.S. Mail insignia in the Heavy Silver too. I think it should get some attention. :D

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Pulled the deck off my Honda ride-on mower and welded up a busted mount where I knocked it on a fence post. Splashed some anti-rust primer and a flash of rattle can silver over the worst of the rust. I have decided to pull it over the winter and do it properly, get it sandblasted, fix a couple of small rust holes and repaint it in something tough before next season.

Got my new intercooler expansion tank installed on the Lightning. The last one bolted on top of the motor and kept breaking the mounts. I hope to get some wheel time today and try her out.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

Hung out in the garage and all I got done was hanging up a couple cabinets that I found a spot on the wall for. All of this week we have been getting our wood floors in the house refinished, finally, from problems last year. Between the odor, sleeping in an uncomfortable chair, not being able to get into any other parts of the house until midnight at night, and fast food all this week has kicked my wifes and my ***. Now today is mow day for me, while the wife starts trying to put the house back together. And if no one has ever had wood floors redone, the dust is just one step under drywall dust. That **** is everywhere.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

what size of pipe is that?

2" x 24"..

I wanted 36" but they didn't have any and only had another 24" section, so I figured I'd give this a shot. If I need, I can go grab another 24" section and a T and be good to go.

Re: what did you do in your garage today?

been struggling to locate the problem on my craftsman tractor to find out why blade is not spinning consistently while mowing on the grass. sometimes it goes fast then it slows down. I am gonna have to start the bottom to save money- replacing the belts and the clutch. If bum, then apparently need to do rebuilt kit- idlers and mandrels.
