I am in need of a few sockets to either replace newer ones or fill in my Hansen racks. I am sick of looking at those empty spaces - it's a sickness, I tell ya! :lol_hitti

The big thing is that I don't like the new Craftsman sockets. My preference for replacements would be date code G, but I think GK will work too. What I *don't* want is the socket type with the extra cutouts on the square end like all the new ones have (so it almost looks like it is 8pt). Does that make sense?

1/4 dr. BE

1/2 dr.
12pt shallow

16mm

1/4 dr.

Also, if anybody has any G coded 1/4" drive deep socket *sets* that they need to get rid of, I'd love to trade newer lightly used laser etched for them.

I had most of what you wanted, but with the dreaded drive end you don't want.

I do have 1/4" deep 6 pt "g" code in:
3/16
7/32
1/4
9/32
11/32
3/8
7/16
9/16

I have a 1/2, but it's the drive style you don't like. It's not a set, but it would get you close.

3/8" Dr.
5/16" Deep 12pt.
1/4" Deep 12pt.
20mm Deep 6pt.
8mm Deep 6pt.
7mm Deep 6pt.
6mm Deep 6pt.
7mm Shallow 6pt.
6mm Shallow 6pt.

I have the 3/8" shallow 6 pt 6&7mm

nothing in my opinion, but they have a set of notches in the drive end for some reason, that's offset to the actual drive, so the drive end can get "stuck" in them rather than going down in the drive portion, so to speak. It's not a big deal to me.

G1 is the drive he doesn't want.

huh.. what is wrong with the drive end on some of the sockets?

What nissan said and what bchee showed. Those are the reason that I started looking around on this forum for different socket options. My (especially 1/4" drive) newer sockets always seem to go on the wrong way and get stuck. I tend to use 1/4" drive most, so when I lost my 10mm socket and had to replace it with a newer one, I got frustrated. The funny thing is they don't seem to go on wrong on the Proto or Snap-on ratchets - only the Craftsman ones.

Now I have a few Proto sets instead, but I'd like to keep/make my old Craftsman sets complete. The old ones served me well for many years.

I have these available from your list, let me know you want any of these. Thanks, Rick

1/2 dr, 22mm 12pt, short, G
1/4dr, 14mm, 6pt, deep, 19
1/4dr, 14mm, 6pt, deep, V
1/4dr, 10mm, 6pt, deep, V
1/4dr, 10mm, 6pt, shallow, G

I'd love to have the two shallow sockets. Let me know what you want for them.

I had most of what you wanted, but with the dreaded drive end you don't want.

I do have 1/4" deep 6 pt "g" code in:
3/16
7/32
1/4
9/32
11/32
3/8
7/16
9/16

I'd be interested in these too, I think. It is close enough to a set that I'd likely be able to fill in the rest. Are you interested in the newer ones as trade or do you want real money? Lmk.

Thanks guys.

I think you may be mistaken
these have the old style recess that looks like someone took a small grinding bit in a dremmel and made a little recess for the ball to fit into

bob

Maybe, all my g1's are the style he doesn't want. Did you look at the pic posted? The ball recess itself is the same, it's the extra part in the end he doesn't want. I have almost everything he needs, but they're all g1's, and the style he doesn't want. *shrug*

for whatever reason the sockets I have are marked G1 but they are not like the ones in BCHEE's picture. they are the older style that has the single detent on all 4 sides of the square drive.
I have had these for over 12 years sitting in the 'spares' box. not sure when the started the style with the detent that has the little bar across it but it must have been after that.

I just went out to the 'box and checked my sockets. Sure enough, I have 1 or 2 sockets (big 1/2" drive ones) that are marked G1 but have the old style square drive. They are slightly different than the G ones, but close enough so that I never noticed.

Are your deep sets metric or SAE?
